@ethryndal That was far too much LOTR for my liking.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

@seekjustice A fact for which you’ll do well to remember. *snobby elven sniff*

@Seekjustice I have literally no clue what this conversation is about, but I have been summoned from the great depths of the… deep… and I feel it my duty to make my opinions on this subject clear:
Legolas is awesome.
Elves, in general, are awesome.
That is the beginning and end of the discussion. Thus says the official KP elf.

@waterlily If the story needs just a few tweaks, I’d push through and keep going with what you’ve got. Sometimes stories have a way of writing themselves, and sometimes characters do things that we didn’t plan for. It happens. I’d push through and keep going.

*pokes head in* I LIVE.
I’ll be writing, though I probably won’t say very much as I’m a little busy today so I’ll be focusing on wording. 😀

Jane Maree replied to the topic Writing a Fight Scene in the forum Plotting 8 years, 5 months ago
@0-0enyali0-0 As Dekreel said, focus on the characters rather than the fight and that’ll make the scene that much better.
I can’t recommend research enough. Learn as much as you possibly can about the method of fighting that you’re using. The more you know, the easier the fight scenes will become to write.

@0-0enyali0-0 @dekreel‘s advice is very solid. Maybe if you have a fight scene that isn’t too long you could post it here for critique.

@shannon I’m sure there are loads of preserved letters from the time period you could get a hold of to study.

@dragon-snapper @shannon @sam-kowal @kate-flournoy Thanks.
Thanks. The one argument in favor of Excelsior is that people don’t have to know what it means right off the bat. I’m not selling the school, I’m just going to sell courses. (Shannon, Excelsior means “onward”. It connotes perseverance and victory.)
That said, I could think of a few…[Read more]

Hi Friends,
I need to come up with a name for a writing school to host my courses under.
I’ve come up with Excelsior Writing School. What do you think? I like it, but I’m not committed to it.
If you have any other suggestions, I’m open to them. 🙂

@gh24682468999 Love this topic.
First of all, I’m a bit on the bolder side of this issue. While I don’t claim to write specifically for a Christian audience, I still think it’s totally possible to share the gospel in your story in an artistic way that, if it offends people, will only do so because of the message, not because of the forum it is…[Read more]

@supermonkey42Â @silverclaw-bonnetfolly Unfortunately, I don’t think we have any way to do that at the moment. I can bring it up in the staff group page though and see if it can be remedied.

Jane Maree replied to the topic Hole in my Plot in the forum Plotting 8 years, 5 months ago
@Dekreel everyone else has some good ideas, and I second theirs. Basically, if you can bring in a side plot or throw in another antagonist to add more conflict and higher stakes it’ll keep your middle going strong.

*grins* Can I just say that I really, really love that you’re using Thirteen for this? I’m so excited to see her on the show.
I can definitely see the problem you’re having, and I’ve experienced it before. I’d say for starters, you should explore the relationship between the Doctor and this Riddler person. Does he/she have a connection to the…[Read more]

@emily I’m so sorry. I really did mean to get back to you earlier, but it looks like someone answered before I could.
My current WIP uses a bunch of different “fantasy” aspects. I’m not sure there are any characteristics that would properly define a fantasy novel in the way you seem to be thinking. A fantasy is something that isn’t real, so most…[Read more]
