@jane-maree Yes, well, certainly there can be exceptions, but that’s the general trend. With KP, I know that our emails were read more when we removed all images from them except the picture prompts. That’s with people telling us they liked the pictures in the emails.
I’d recommend split testing it if you’re unsure. Just send out some with images…[Read more]

@Sam-Kowal Arghh yessss. I started Words of Radiance last night and so far I’m loving it too. *lots of flailing*
Kal, Shal, and Dal though. XD That cracked me up. Kal is definitely my favourite though. *hugs the precious bridgeboy* xP

@Jenwriter17 I concur with the others and say that 3 POVs is fine.
I’ve found a couple of posts on Helping Writers Become Authors that you might find helpful:

@Mariposa artwork would probably fit the bill too. Remember that you don’t have to stick with the one option forever. You can play around with every email you send out. 😛
@Daeus I’m curious that you say that. When I sent out my first newsletter I had no pictures or anything and the biggest lot of feedback I got was for “more photos and…[Read more]

@aella Yeah, definitely speak in his terms. Don’t try to make him a writer or treat him like a writer, because that’s probably not where his focus should be. He won’t understand the way you think, so you have to understand the way he thinks which is. It doesn’t matter what you value about writing, find what he values and show him whatever ways…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien @mariposa Actually, statistics show that people are far more likely to read an email that has just text. People say they like pictures, but when it actually comes down to it, they distrust emails with pictures in them. Of course, it depends on your niche, but I think it’s most likely your audience will pay more attention to you…[Read more]

What on earth does this have to do with math?
Okay. Generally speaking, people who like math like it because it makes sense–everything fits together, and there’s not a lot of gray area. Writing, even though there’s the potential for a lot of gray area, is similar in that its many aspects fit together to create order when there was chaos.
But t…[Read more]

@Mariposa I started up an email list last year, and I can confirm that the biggest incentive that got people signing up was having a cool giveaway. They had to sign up to enter the giveaway.
As for content, make sure there’s pictures. Aesthetic photos/photos of life/random pictures you’ve taken. They don’t have to be good quality, because…[Read more]

What initially attracts you to subscribe to an email list?
I either know the person or am really interested in the free resource they’re giving out. Or they have a cool giveaway.
What kind of things should I write about?
I’d say it all depends on what kind of audience you’re trying to cultivate. Think about what your ideal audience would like…[Read more]

@SeekJustice well this is an interesting topic… XD
Okay so, I think everyone else has got some pretty good ideas. Personally I think an idea like euthanasia would be abused and executions would be said to the public to be “for the good of the people.” Think some sort of poison/drug injected directly into a vein that kills them in a few seconds.

@Sam-Kowal aw cool.
WELL PERFECT TIMING FOR THAT QUESTION. I actually just finished reading The Way of Kings a few days ago and I’m planning on starting Words of Radiance soon. I don’t normally read epic fantasy books so I was reluctant to try these ones but @Hope and my sisters ganged up and convinced me to give them a shot. And I’m absolutely…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper yes, I do! 🙂 I started one several months ago, so here’s a basic overview of how to do it.
1. Go to Mailchimp.com There are other email services to use, but I’d recommend that one. NOTE: they will ask for your address. It’s law for them to do this. My family has a PO Box, so it’s no big deal, but if you’re uncomfortable using…[Read more]

@inkling-for-christ I’m not sure that fangirl automatically equals dreamer, but definitely dreaming is not irrational. I’d like to debate anyone who thought so. *roars*
I might come back here and rant about that sometime.
In the meantime though, I think that’s a cool story idea and if you need any help writing guys, I could help. Guys are not…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper Do you/will you soon have an email list? You can build your platform entirely on your blog, but it just makes sense to have an email list along with your blog and an email list is a better way to sell things. Most importantly, and email list is permanent unless your followers unsubscribe. A blog follower is more likely to stick…[Read more]

That’s a really good question! I think your blog will be a huge help with that. If you don’t have access to social media to help grow it, I’d suggest doing just what you’ve been doing — going around and commenting on blogs, leaving a link to yours in the comments. If you really engage with other bloggers, you’ll get more…[Read more]
