@euodia-vision what do you think of Kaius?

My association with “Kalos” is a region in one of the Pokemon games, but it’s certainly a good name!
I’m a fan of the name Killian, personally (it’s German, if I recall), but that might seem like you were attempting a play on words, if he’s a bad guy, and it might not be quite as mysterious and “face of the power behind it…[Read more]

Ooh, fascinating!
I definitely like the Septrum better as a universe name.
As for the individual planets, the first thing that came to mind for me was just “a Septre” (could be pronounced “Septra” or “Septer”, whichever!), if the universe name and the planet name should be connected like that.
I love the Hebrew language, and to…[Read more]

Here’s a weird one…
My co-author and I are big on vivid descriptions of meals, and we’ve just realized that because our WIP takes place in a fake world, Brussels’s sprouts can’t be called “Brussels’s sprouts”, because that would imply that they’re from Brussels, and Brussels doesn’t exist in this world.
So, uh, anybody have a name for Brussels sprouts?

I’m late to the party, but I read your bizarre anecdote on Life, today. Your prose is remarkably distinct! It’s something akin to a P.G. Wodehouse in training, if you’re familiar with him, only more rhythmic and poetic. Excellent wordsmithing.

@esther-c, Should we write it here, or start a new thread? You might want to write the first post, to restate the premise you suggested in the beginning and get the ball rolling!

Well, we could (potentially) have a crew that writes on Mondays and a crew that writes on Fridays, so there’s always something new that the other crew hasn’t seen, and will make sure we stay interactive instead of anyone trying to control the direction of the story! I only suggested times to make it more community-oriented, so we could be on at…[Read more]

I think it depends on what the ruins are of! If it was really elegant and majestic before it was ruined, I’d think Vieridelle, but if it was more of a simple but lovable village, I’d say Vieridale. If you’re leaning more mysterious, I think stick with delle.

I thought it would be helpful to have a forum to ask for input on miscellaneous names, or even character names, if Fantasy Name Generator has failed you for the last time, or you’re sick of Googling 3 mile long NameBerry articles (who knew there were roughly 2 million Irish girl names that mean “blessed”?[not an actual figure: using for humorous…[Read more]

No, I have not heard of that band, but thank you so much for the reccomendation! All Google would give me was סולו (Solu) and Joshua Aaron, so I’m excited to hear about a new one!

Hey, cool idea, Esther!
Maybe if we did it at a specific time it would be easier for people to fit it, and feel more connected? So we could give it an hour or half an hour, say, (for example) Fridays from 4-4:30, and anyone who wants to play would know that they’re all on at the same time, and we could get some fun dialogues going!
So it would…[Read more]

I finally found the thread, @landric! XD I feel like I should ask you questions now, too!
1. What is your favorite part of the writing process?
2. When did you first read Redwall?
3. What is your favorite writing related memory?

1. I really enjoy learning about the Revolutionary War period, in American History!
2. Ooh… Probably Monster in the Hollows, even though it’s so tragic I can barely stand to read it.
3. I have!! It’s amazing, so far!!

1. Can I meet Jesus in this hypothetical?! I’m not sure what I’d ask him, I think I would suddenly forget whatever I wanted to ask. I’d like to meet Tom Hanks and ask for acting advice, he has more range than any actor I can think of, though I have no idea if…[Read more]

@ester-c
Thank you for your welcome!
Hebrew is a little hard, but mostly just for the first week or so, while you’re learning a new alphabet and learning to read from right to left. After that, it’s not much different from any other language!
I’m learning via Duolingo, by the way, which makes everything easier. I also love their French lessons.…[Read more]

Hello, @gwyndalf-the-wise !
I said “melodramatic” because I have a hard time writing serious scenes without making them painfully over-the-top, so I was using it in a self-derogatory way, but frankly I do kind of like melodramatic stories!

@otherworldlyhistorian, Hello!
1. I did not watch Rings of Power, but I’ve heard second hand that it was visually impressive, but there was little to no transformative arc for Galadriel’s character, which is always make-or-break in a show to me, so I think I’ll have to pass on it.
2. When I was a kid in drama camps, we played a game called…[Read more]

Hello, @folith-feolin!
1. Probably Hobbits. They’re so down to earth, but also carry a simple elegance with them.
2. My favorite board game… The Family Man has a Christmas board game called “To Bethlehem”, and we play that every year, so I love that. Patience tends to fail me when it comes to bigger board games, but this is a character flaw…[Read more]

Nice to meet you!
1. Snakes are definitely cool! Though I don’t think I’d want to be in close proximity to one for an extended period of time.
2. My biggest wip is difficult to pin down in a single sentence, but it’s a fantasy(ish) novel about two sisters who live in an abbey, and the adventures and problems they encounter…[Read more]
