@dragon-snapper Nice collages! Does your story have to deal with computer worlds/cyberspace?

@Dragon-Snapper I LOVE NAMES. I NAME EVERYTHING.
*coughs*
With that crucial bit of random information out of the way, I’d tend to agree with you. The best fantasy names are those that don’t look so absolutely foreign they’re impossible to relate to. The name should describe your character, not overshadow him. Personally I love old Norse, Saxon,…[Read more] -

Sweet! I love names myself, @dragon-snapper. And I have one, big fat tip for you:
DO NOT EVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE Z’S OR X’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read a book recently where almost half of the “fantasy words” had X’s or Z’s in them, and it was painful. (On the strain of the “fantasy words”, do not use too many!!! That book did that…[Read more]

@Dragon-snapper, I honestly don’t think the names matter too much. it’s the character that makes the name memorable, not vice versa. For example, the names Harry and Percy are now instantly recognisable as fantasy names, because of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, but there are probably heaps of average, ordinary men (maybe even women) named Harry…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper Okay, thanks! I think that I’ll stretch it out between two or three books so it isn’t very sudden.

eesh. I only recently learned what a character arc was, and I’m still trying to figure out how to write one. @epicaddie2 But what @dragon-snapper said is right. We’re people, constantly learning what’s right and wrong, just like our characters. If you strive to portray that accurately, then I’m not sure you can restrict an arc to any length.…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper @that_writer_girl_99 Question. Can character arcs be too big?

I’m working on a thing for my Motion Picture writing class. So…schoolwork, but still fun. @dragon-snapper
Although, can I tell you a secret? My least favorite part of writing the script is adhering to the script format. It’s strange and feels constricting.

Hello everyone!
So here’s the deal: some of you may know that I’m working on a novel called Prison–the concept of which is rather long and complicated and isn’t entirely relevant to this thread. Some of you may also know that this particular WIP has been put on the backburner for a bit, at least until my college classes release me long enough to…[Read more]
