@princessfoo Hey there! Can I just say how glad I am that you’ve been apart of the KP community. 🙂 (even if you are just now introducing yourself :p, better late than never, right?)
What would be the top two fantasy books you’d recommend reading? (I’m not much of a fantasy reader, but I like to read out of my favorite genres so I’d love some…[Read more] -

@belegteleri I wish I could be of service! But like Josiah said, that’s one thing we can’t change. (I really like your profile pic by the way, is that your very own horse?)

I can’t change it, but it’s possible that @aratrea or @rolena-hatfield could.

Fyi, K.M.Wieland’s posts are also often above 2,000.
I think a large deciding factor is your subject matter.

The articles on KP are about that length just for comparison.

@revayah1 Welcome!
*gasp* You’re writing a vengeance book? Those are the best ever.

@dragon-snapper I can see that a bit, but it didn’t really pop out at me. I think overall you have a pretty consistent writing style. I believe that if you work on just generally improving your style and edit your book a few times, the problem will disappear.

@that_writer_girl_99 @shannon Actually, I just came up with a story idea I’m pretty excited about. It just remains to be seen whether all the plot threads will tie together, but I’m pretty sure they will.
If you come up with any great dilemma ideas though, make sure to post them here. They could be great story inspiration for anyone else…[Read more]

Any other ideas? I’m not coming up with anything that’s clicking.

Daeus replied to the topic 1st person POV? in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 8 months ago
@ryanna Show don’t tell is important, as always. Like, you don’t want to say, “Things were looking very bad for my plan.” Instead, you might focus on the downcast faces of the fellow conspirators. Or, you could do something subtle like this with the internal monologue: “I could be very optimistic at times, but surely this plan had to work. Not…[Read more]

@Daughteroftheking ooh, that’s wacky, but I like it! Great points already so far… I’ll just add that it might not be such a bad thing for the reader to think Rori’s a little off her rocker. As @Catwing said, it gives a curiosity factor.
But if your concern is believe-ability and the reader taking your story as a story seriously, I’m afraid…[Read more] -

@daughteroftheking Well, that’s weird, but it’s also cool.
Could you write a scene from these killer plants’ POV?
Could some small animal be left in a room of plants and then when we come back to the room the animal is dead with signs of violence?
Could you describe a setting from the omniscient POV where there are these killer plants around and…[Read more] -

@joy I like it. Actually, to some degree that happened. Not white servitude, but the south felt mistreated after the war and there was a good deal of unrest during reconstruction. It could be good stuff to get ideas for your novel from.
Anyway, I would totally be for keeping this story in the real world. However, since you don’t want history…[Read more]

@Joy oooh… what I like about that is it has a ton of thematic potential. I’m not quite sure about the revisionism, from a historical standpoint, and if it was me I would probably create a fantasy or scifi world and then do the story with obvious parallels to the Civil War, but there are a lot of writers that can pull off things I’d be scared to…[Read more]

Probably people getting stabbed where there is no visible weapon. A cleared around the invisible soldier. People could hear the invisible guy.

London, Paris, and Bayeux, a city in Normandy, close to all the D-Day beaches 🙂
It was a lot of fun
Aaaannnnnnd I left out a period in that last sentence. 10/10.
@belegteleri Whoa! Slightly jealous! 🙂 Did you see any cool castles?! That’s what I’d love to see if I ever get over there someday. Oh, and I meant to ask if you’re working on writing a book right now?
@rolena-hatfield Aside from the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, we didn’t see any other castles or anything that similar, since we were in the city. We didn’t have time to go outside the major cities 🙁
As for working on a book, I haven’t written much in the last few months, although I’m starting to get my ‘writerly itch’ back and I hope…[Read more]
