Look for possible points of conflict in the structure of your world and with your characters, and ask yourself what would happen if those two opposing forces were pitted against each other— or worse, forced to work together against an even greater foe.

@hannah-c Yes, do. I also do chapter outlines and that really helps because then there’s very little to have writer’s block about.

hmm @sarah-h, that’s a good point, but if so, I think the author could have made that clearer.

@overcomer Let’s see, I’ll try to say something new. First of all, you seem to be doubting your very outline. What makes you so unsure of it?

Well, I’ve never written a novel, but I have done a novelette. Basically there is no wrong way and it will get fixed later. 🙂 I feel it’s just like writing a short story so just go for it.

@c-c-lane Wow! You hit the nail on the head. Plot is definitely my stronghold. Characters are hit and miss for me and prose something that takes many passes to get right. It’s all getting better though. Just takes time, some degree of planning to the route, and a fierce determination.

@Daeus yes, scenes and settings can be tricky. Especially learning to use them in coordination with each other. *grimace*
