Hey girlies! Welcome to the get to know you party! *blowsbubblesandballoonseverywhere* You two know each other right? 😉 Great! (Rolena hands out ice cream. You both like ice cream, no?!) There, now that the party’s been started, it’s time for the games to begin. By games I mean, I’d love to get to know you girls…[Read more] -

@michael-stanton @stewie-plotter I had a new idea. My family’s homeschool group is basically on break for the summer, but in August, we start up. Could I earn coins by sharing about KP at one of their support groups for parents? We have about eighty-four families represented, and by next year, we’ll probably have more.
And if I was to make an…[Read more]

@daeus @aratrea @kate-flournoy @ceaseless-prayer Thanks for the feedback. The gist of what ya’ll said was kind of my gut feeling, but I didn’t want to run with it on a story this important to me. So thank you, because I really needed some sound thoughts on this.
Now I think I’ll have to go develop my parents. (Why is that so exciting?!)

@That_Writer_Girl_99 love to, but I’m writing now too and I’ve promised myself I’m gonna finish this pivotal battle scene before bed.

@ceaseless-prayer Hi! I got a friendship request from you and I’m just curious about the reason. Are you just being friendly, or is there a reason? I like friendly people, and I’ll likely accept the offer, but I haven’t been on here so long that you have me curious! Forgive me if this seems weird.

@BethanySinkyRoses yeah… what they said. 😛
Also just realize that ‘parents’ is not some sort of alternate reality slot that some human beings choose to fall into and become not-human beings. Some people are parents, but all parents are people. These characters should be as developed as your other characters because they’re just as complex.…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses Quick answer: It’s okay to portray anyone unrealistically.
Long answer:
I think what’s going on in your example (not having read it) is that the author is trying to shine the spotlight on Christianity by making it idealistic in their story.
This isn’t really doing what they think it is though. The spotlight is focused in…[Read more]

What do you think of parents who have no personality and never make mistakes? Is there a good excuse for writers who do this?
For example, in the Mennonite Millers book series, the parents are portrayed as all-wise and unerring. Perfect-no flaws, no mistakes, ever. Maybe they are this way to encourage the small fry in the audience to respect…[Read more]

Hi @emily-d!
Rhythm (aka meter) is a great thing to use even if you also use rhyme. The first thing to do is to learn the basic patterns of meter. You can easily learn about those online. I also recommend the book The Roar On The Other Side to learn poetry.

@Northerner thanks for sharing your story. I started writing when I was thirteen, found KP when I was fourteen, and never looked back. That’s… WOW. O.o Is that four years ago? Yikes…
But yes. Anyway. KP is wonderful and amazing and fantastical and too good to be true and I would probably have quit writing by now if I’d never found them. Thank…[Read more] -

Hurray! My first guest has arrived! *surriesaroundtryingtolookbusyashostessofthisparty* Well you may have ALL the chocolate ice cream that you’d like here! (I’m more of a vanilla bean/strawberry girl myself 😉 ) Awww!!! That’s so great you’ve been friends since then <3 Lemme guess that if you've been can't remember a time when you weren't writing…[Read more]
Opps. A couple of mistypes in that last comment 🙂 Typing too fast I guess. Oh! And is that you in your profile picture?? @holly-nelson-gray Also, I’m sending your sister Trinity an email right now about her account 😉 I figured when I saw her application that you two were sisters!
*mouthhangsopen* That’s awesome! My mom grew up riding horses, but I’ve barely sat on top of one for more than ten minutes. I also have a friend who’s training to be an Olympic rider. I love watching people ride though! Do you compete?
/Sci-Fi Dystopian. It’s about these 10 kids/ Nice! Those 10 kids must be the multiple characters you were talking about that you’ve been character profiling. That is a lot of characters! But that means you’ll have lots of different and fun personalities to work with! Do you have one main character who’s the prime narrator?
I shall have to look…[Read more]

Okay, I know that Emily replied to this (cause my email notifications say so) but her reply hasn’t show up on the KP screen yet. 🙁 I’ll see if I can get that reply here… But while I’m working on that… I see you both are working on a dystopian book. @emily-d She’s here!!! (brings in a couple of pounds of gelato) I’ve never had gelato before, but if someone likes it even better than ice cream, it’s gotta be great stuff!

Ooo and Emily… I read your previous missing reply in my emails and it said you’ve been published here on Kingdom Pen! Was that a short story, poem or something else? (I wanna go back and read it now that I personally know the author 😉 )
Hmm… @holly-nelson-gray This is odd. I’m checking into it.
It won’t let me post many words either 😀 Is it doing that just right here in the public messaging or on the main forum page as well?
Maybe there’s a limit to how much we can post in the comments under a personal profile update?!
Another thought, sometimes when I try to post in the forum, it won’t show up right away but will pop up like an hour later (slow processing I guess).
