@daeus Hm, it’s a bit long. I’ll try to see if I can cut a couple parts out of it later….
@seekjustice Mm. I agree. It’s kinda hard though because throughout the battle I don’t just focus on one character, it’s more like I keep switching to different people throughout it. Plus, the “main” character that I focus mostly on is kinda an awkward…[Read more]

@daeus if you’re still trying to decide…what about “The Ink Institute”? (Off of @sam-kowal’s idea)

I have just officially read Harry Potter for the first time!! I read the first book, “The Sorcerer’s Stone,” and it was very good! Not quite as widespread or diverse as the Wingfeather Saga, but still an excellent read! I liked it a lot. I…[Read more] -

@waterlily Hmmm… Good question. Is this for the sci-fi NaNo you were talking about? 🙂
If you do first person, then you can basically get a full-on view of what the character is thinking. So you’re more inside his/her head, seeing what (s)he is seeing, feeling what (s)he is feeling. But that also means that the movement of the reader is…[Read more]

Happy Thanksgiving Day, everyone!
Eat and feast.

And enjoy way too many LOTR and Hobbit GIFs on eating.

@0-0enyali0-0 Oooh! That’s a good question! Others might have better answers than me, but let me try…
So it sounds to me like you’re describing every detail of what’s going on in the battle by itself. That tends to sound like a school lecture if you describe a dramatic scene from the outside without looking at how the characters are feeling…[Read more]

@daeus Exelsior Writing Academy has a nice ring to it, for what it’s worth. 🙂
Hmmm… Kingdom Writing Academy? That goes along with the theme of the website. However, if it’s just going to be on this website, that would be repetition. Overall I like “Excelsior.”
Never heard that name before! Maybe you could have a motto or tagline that te…[Read more]

@daeus maybe a mix of both? Like, Excelsior Academy for Excellent Writing? Or Excelsior School of Writing Technique?

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic School Name? in the forum Publishing & Platform 8 years, 5 months ago
@Daeus I like that… not as much as Excelsior though.
Ugh. Decisions decisions.
You know what? I’m going to just throw caution to the winds and say go with Excelsior. I can’t think of anything I like better or even as well as. If you can think of a tagline of sorts to go with it though, so it’s more clear what it means and what it’s for, that…[Read more]

@daeus If you’re going to do Write Better Academy, then you have to do ‘Write More Better Academy.’ That’ll sell people, won’t it? 😉

And he comes to us for suggestions of names?

Yeah. I have no idea. You’d think a former fantasy writer would have a dictionary replete with such names, but I’ve never had a strong suit for that.
Only things I can think of are:
1) Lamb Technique School… [another loki facepalm please]
2) Writing School of Excellence
3) Lamb…[Read more] -

Hi @daeus 😀
Uuuuhhh
You know, I actually really like “Excelsior,” but I kind of agree with @kate-flournoy people might go “huh?”
I have a LONNNGG history with making too-complicated names.
(I once made an imaginary world with over fifty countries, all named things like “Ejapania” and “Exenlite”. I also begged my parents to name one of my…[Read more]

@Daeus oooh, I really like the idea behind Excelsior, but most people are probably just going to go… ‘huh? Sounds like some weird Latin elitist club or something… *yawns**scrolls past*’
So… maybe something slightly less high and lofty and a little more down-to-earth. (Can’t believe I just said that.) I can’t think of anything right off the…[Read more]

Hey, friends!
Just wanted to give you lovely people a heads-up that I will be eating lots and lots of pie and stuffing this week with family (aka celebrating the American holiday of Thanksgiving). That being said, I will have little time to keep up with the activity here, though I would very much like to. 🙂 Talk to you soon!

Hey, @daeus or whoever responds to these questions, is there any way to search for forum topics or threads? I have tried the search bar on the main forum page, but that only brings up individual posts. The search bar for the main website only brings up articles. It would be nice if there was a way to search for a topic and see any forum threads…[Read more]

Yeah, I really like Harry Potter. I read the first book when I was around seven so its been with me for awhile

HAHA How did Fluffy and Stan become friends?? So you know Hagrid?
My favorite character issssssss…. probably Harry lol. But I really like Ron and his brothers, too. I like it when Harry is on his broom, like when he’s playing… Quiderrich? Is that what it is? Quidditch? Something like that.
What’s your favorite part?
Long story… Fluffy wasn’t always under Hagrids care, and Stan met him at an underground magical creatures market… and they became really good friends. It involved lots of raspberries, Stan plugging up Fluffy’s ear so his captors couldn’t lull him to sleep, and eventually they both escaped.
Yeah, Harry’s my favorite too. I do like Hermione…[Read more]
