@perfectfifths Well, Kate’s not here, so I’ll just tell you what she told me. Turbulent just means that while you’re predominantly one type, a lot of the time you’ll act like other types too. The more assertive you are, the more of just one type you are. It seems from what the profile summaries say that turbulent types are actually more turbulent…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy @dragon-snapper Ok, I finished the chapter, so I’m gonna stop. I wrote 378, so fairly good.

Daeus replied to the topic Would all Ohioans please announce their presence? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 4 months ago
@his-instrument Ok, looks like I should be able to make it on the seventh. I’m also available the 21st and 28th and it might be possible I could make it on the 14th, though it would probably have to be in the evening in that case. I’d be willing to teach something too, though I don’t really know what I’d do it on.

hmm, I’m not sure, but here are some questions that might help you choose.
What lesson does the character learn?
What’s one word that could sum up the story’s conflict?
Is there anything extremely unusual about your characters or the situations they find themselves in?
What are common words used in titles for the book’s genre? (romance, I assume.…[Read more] -

Thanks @his-instrument @faithdk (at least I think that’s you, Faith. I can barely see you from way up here though. Haha!)
Yeah, I mostly agree with you, but I’m kinda leaning toward the safe side. It’s hard though, because I have an instance or two where it’s not just a character being frivolous. There’s a reason for it. I don’t think it’s wrong…[Read more]

If you don’t want the twins to save another world, how about they go to other worlds to figure out how to fix something (something big, but not apocalyptic) in this one?

@bluejay @perfectfifths Yeah, they were daughters of Zeus… like absolutely everything else. Obviously a good reason to make them our slaves.

Shakespear? I don’t know, I just know that there’s a book on him called Brightest heaven of invention.

@kate-flournoy lol. It creeps me out too. I like the picture, but I think I’m not used to the smile yet.

@dragon-snapper Um… I don’t know, but if you threaten to consume your muse with fire, I’m sure that it will be more than willing to serve you.

Daeus replied to the topic Free Verse Poems in the forum Poetry 9 years, 4 months ago
@bluejay Well, free verse isn’t really my biggest thing, but I have written it a little. Others will probably give you some finer points (@spradlin, get over here!), but I think the biggest point is that you have to use As-Many-Metaphors-As-Possible. I mean, free verse by its very definition means it has no structure so the only thing you’re left…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy I love that word, splendiferous.
And why not? I think you should get points for that. But that doesn’t really matter, because I just gave you ice cream, and what do points matter when you can have ice cream?

Daeus replied to the topic Short Story Brainstorms in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 4 months ago
Well first, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that short stories are short… which is obvious, but one problem you can face is to try to fit a complex plot into a short story. Just don’t do that. Short stories should usually only have one scene. If they have more than one, the scenes should be short and the plot still not very complex. Some…[Read more]
