@seekjustice Okay, here’s a list:
- Mona
- Lillian/Lilian
- Nan (this is a nickname for Anne)
- Elsie/Elise
- Marie (This pronunciation was made fun of so much that there’s even a song about it. 😛 “Mary’s a Grand Old Name” by George M. Cohan. It was an extremely popular name, but – at least in America – because it was the French p…

She would probably be upper middle class. Comfortable and a little uppity, so her parents would probably be the sort of people who would give their daughter a name slightly above their class to sound more posh than they really are.
Suggest whatever you like 🙂 I’m all out of ideas!
Only two, at least while I’m waiting for the rest…[Read more]

@seekjustice Cool! 🙂
I have a couple of comments/questions:
Your book is set in Australia, right? What social class is your character in?
In most of the books I’ve read that were written in that time period, the more “unique/fancy” names like Lilian, Ethel, and Evelyn were often made fun of by the people who preferred more “sensible” names…[Read more]

I need some help getting a female name for one of my novels. Its a WWI novel so she was born in the late 1890s. I’m looking for a name that’s not, like, Mary or Jane or Philomena. Do you have any ideas? I want it to be sort of unique but not out of place for the historical period.

@warrenluther04 Well, I don’t have a phone, so I haven’t had a conversation quite like that, but yeah I’ve had Apple vs. every other device discussions with my tech brother. 😀

@seekjustice yeah it took me a really long time to get used to a Mac (I had a Dell laptop with Windows before). My older brother (who’s into computers and all that) really dislikes Apple products and jokes around with me about how I ‘strayed from the path.’ 😉 We’ve had conversations like this:
Me: *is typing away happily on Mac*
My brother:…[Read more]

Yeah, my parents have a Mac which I found really difficult to use, which is why they ended up buying me my own computer which Word works much better on 🙂
That’s one of the great aspects of Scrivener in my opinion.

@seekjustice I used to use Word too, but on my MacBook it’s acts kinda funny. So I switched to Google docs, but I think I’m gonna like writing in Scrivener. 🙂 I really like that I can keep my research bits and everything in one place and handy as I write

Oh, Scrivener is awesome! I usually do my first drafts in Microsoft Word, but I find Scrivener really useful for editing and sorting things out.

@seekjustice Cool. 🙂
I’m also trying to figure out Scrivener, which I got about a week ago. It’s taking me a bit to figure it out (with the help of a tutorial), but so far it’s super duper cool! 😀
Thank you for the nanowrimo advice, by the way. I didn’t get the chance last night to thank ya 😉

@seekjustice Yes, in America voting is not required. Our voting laws are really weird and confusing, actually.
Ah, I see.
😛
@ariel-ashira Haha. 😛
I’m actually really sleepy. Had a long day. So I’m going to depart now. Talk to you all soon, hopefully!

We have to sign up before we turn eighteen. At least, I did, and I’m pretty sure its mandatory to do it before eighteen. I believe in America you don’t have to vote, (is that right?) but in Australia you have to.
The safe children policies are basically to stop child abuse. And you have to do the training for everything you get i…[Read more]
