Elanor started the topic How do I make a non-cliche escape scene? in the forum Plotting 3 years ago
So a person escapes the bad guys. This is a characteristic of most every book I’ve read. I’m writing a prison escape in my current WIP and am wondering how to make it something that’s not just the same old thing.
Any tips and or advice would be gladly appreciated.
I’ll tag a bunch of people.

Faith Q. started the topic When is it okay to defy the government? in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 3 years ago
Okay, y’all, I’ve got a dilemma on my hands.
To give you a bit of background information, my main character (Emeric Dertok) has recently come back into society after eight years of living the life of a hermit. He’s working for the King (Jornan), who charged him with the task of tracking down spies trying to sabotage the government. But as enters…[Read more]

@Christi-Eaton *pops in and says hello* Unfortunately no suggestions, though… Other than the classics of Calvin and Hobbes and Peanuts.

As mentioned before, Calvin and Hobbes, then there’s The Adventures of Tintin by Herge, and Asterix and Obelix by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.

@christi-eaton Calvin and Hobbes! Of course. Other than that, I am sadly lacking in comic knowledge.

@christi-Eaton There’s a manga series, Manga Classics that adapts classics into graphic novels. I’ve only read the Jungle Book and Les Miserables adaptions. They were pretty good.
Some of Ted Dekker’s books have been adapted into graphic novels.
There’s also comic collections like, Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, etc.
That’s all I can think of off the…[Read more] -

@daughteroftheking Aren’t all writers secretly time travelers? 😉
@christi-eaton Thanks! (Also, side-note, I’m finally “officially” joining you in the theater department- I’m playing Mother Gothel in a brief comedy sketch with some friends for a 4-H competition 😀 )

Alrighty, Kapeefers. I made meself a Facebook page (With my real name… *hides*) for the Silver Phoenix blog. But I’m wondering how to promote the facebook page to people other than myself and my friends on facebook… to people who aren’t my friends but people like you….
Or I guess the real question is, how do I use facebook as a writer…[Read more]

I was really going to try and wait another month before posting this, because that’s when my actual KP-versary is, but my internship ends next week and I’m kinda (really) sad about it, so I could use some love.
Anyway. March 26th, 2017–almost a year ago–I was sitting on the couch, doing schoolwork, when my mom told me about some ad she’d fo…[Read more]

@christi-eaton sorry, I haven’t either
@dekreel I can’t think of any sci-fi books at the moment (unless dytopian is considered sci-fi. if it is, I’d recommend the Out of Time series by Nadine Brandes). I’ll definitely let you know if I think of any…

@christi-eaton Jim Weiss does some very enjoyable versions of G. A. Henty’s books. However, he does edit them to ensure they can be heard by children, which some might think is a good thing, and others a bad thing. 🙂 (I usually prefer the unabridged versions.)
I don’t listen to audiobooks much, but when I do I go to librivox.org for free…[Read more]

@christi-eaton I’m afraid I can’t recommend any since I’ve never listened to audiobooks. 🙈 Being an introvert, I retain things better by reading rather than by listening. 🙂
