Ooooh, this is a fun question!!!!! Okay, so my answer is probably obvious and all, but it’d be the Bible. Buuut since that’s probably what everyone’s answer is here and like I said, it’s pretty obvious, another one would be Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God study. It’s really impacted a lot of how I see things regarding the…[Read more]

@buildsbygideon For me, the book that’s been most foundational in my (recent) life has been Finding God’s Life for My Will by Mike Donehey. My husband and I read it out loud together this year (twice, actually) and it was such a wonderful read. It’s a bit hard to summarize, but I saw it described on Goodreads as part Christian living, part band…[Read more]

Hmm, for me personally a great book that I believe counts in this topic is by Charles. J. Sykes, “50 Rules Kids Won’t Learn In School.” Since I’m not really a fan of non-fiction or life books, I didn’t expect to like it and there are probably a lot of people who will disagree with me when I say how great it is, (I mean the…[Read more]

@buildsbygideon Hey! Sorry I’m SUPER late to respond to this, I forgot to check notifs lol, excuse my tardiness..
Yes! The story behind my alias is this: I was drawing something in manga style (Japanese drawing) and I was like, “hey, I need a Japanese name if I’m doing Japanese drawing!” So my Japanese name is Megumi Kadotake. (Cool tidbit:…[Read more]

Songs sung in Russian are pretty fascinating. Especially ones that would go with Russian soldier dance or even traditional instrumentals.

I normally find new music every time. I’ll type in a few keywords on Youtube and see what I can find, mostly. But you just gave me an incredible idea, in fact! I’ll look into making a playlist… I can’t believe I haven’t thought of that before! I also have separate playlists for my characters as well 🙂

@buildsbygideon Thanks for the reccs! Ah, most of the foreign stuff I listen to is rock; I really enjoy TK from Ling tosite sigure; his voice is quite unique and his lyrics are very emotional. N. Flying is a pretty good Korean band.

@buildsbygideon I do have a lot of lofi hip-hop mixes saved to my writing playlist (which contains too many videos now to count) but most of the time I just find myself gravitating towards what’s fastest for me to find. Sometimes it’s lofi, most of the time, it’s chill stuff.
The music you like sounds really interesting! I’m quite partial to…[Read more]

@buildsbygideon Hello! I don’t believe we’ve met–I’m Elizabeth. *extends hand solemnly*
What an interesting topic! I’ve really enjoyed reading over everyone’s responses. As for me, it depends. The way my brain processes sound is a little odd, so sometimes music helps me focus, but sometimes it’s really really distracting. When I do listen to…[Read more]

(Btw, welcome to KP! I’m Ella, nice to meet you.) I listen to pretty much every genre depending on my mood. Some of my favorite music to listen to while writing is trailer music, contemporary/pop, rock, lo-fi, rap, etc. Whatever I feel like. I’m really good at concentrating because of my little brother… lol. 😆 So ya, that’…[Read more]

Good question! I usually avoid listening to music while writing because I find it too distracting, even without lyrics (probably because I just haven’t done it a lot). When I write I like to imagine the sounds of the scene I’m writing, and music can sometimes drown it out for me. However, if I’m trying to write in an environment…[Read more]

@buildsbygideon Music is my second hobby, so naturally, I love to listen to music while I’m writing. Usually I either dig out songs I loved in middle school (instrumental/epic stuff) or I listen to stuff that I currently am listening to on my liked playlist, which varies from rock to piano. I usually, however, open up a chill mix on Youtube and…[Read more]

Great topic!! : ) For me, I’m a nut over music, so it’s definitely a major part of my day. While I’m writing, I like to listen to instrumental, mostly, like soft cello music, piano music, and occasionally some light chillstep. I find mostly all of my writing music on Youtube. It helps me to ‘zone in’ on my writing and not get…[Read more]

Ah, this is a good topic! For myself, the most music I’ve ever listened to while writing was during NaNoWriMo (surviving November requires desperate measures). Looking back, I remember listening to a wide-ranging variety, from Mozart to fantasy/winter ambiance to Norwegian legends to contemporary Christian to Disney songs. But the…[Read more]

@buildsbygideon Oh, I really enjoyed Life is Beautiful! A lot sadder than I expected it to be. Yes, I’d encourage you to check out Parasite, though I have to warn you that it’s…not exactly a family film, and it’s quite dark and terrifying. But it is, in my opinion, a masterpiece.

Yes! Mere Christianity despite the hype exceeded my expectations. My family and I talk about it quite a lot.
I just started reading Anne of Green Gables yesterday! And although I’m only three chapters in, I’m really enjoying it so far. Anne is a really fun character, and I’m looking forward to what is to come in the story. Out…[Read more]

I really enjoy Keeper of the Lost Cities because it has a lot of fantasy elements. The main character has telepathy, and she learns that, in short, she’s an elf and that she’s sort of an experiment for a secret organization. I enjoyed the first book.
Wow, it sounds very interesting! Though, if I’m being honest, I think I’ll enjoy…[Read more]
