@dekreel what Jane said 😛 Last I checked, it’s $40 for Windows. I had a discount from NaNoWriMo, so it was only half that. It’s worth every penny, especially if you like to organize things 😀

@aislinn-mollisong @dekreel It’s writing software, like Microsoft word only 1000x better 😉 See the link: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/overview

Audrey Caylin replied to the topic Questions about Motifs and Archetypes in the forum Plotting 6 years, 9 months ago
@dekreel @sam-kowal explained a motif really well — a reoccurring image or element in a story. I’m pretty sure it could be a symbol too? But a symbol would be more of an object that represents an abstract idea, like Jack Sparrow’s compass represents his choices. A theme is the central idea of your novel: justice, forgiveness, love, etc (and a…[Read more]

@clairec this sounds amazing! I’ve been using Scrivener for over six months now and it’s been perfect for my organizer brain 😉

( @seekjustice aw, thanks for tagging me 😀 )
@clairec this sounds like a really exciting opportunity! My main bit of advice is to be honest: write from your heart. People can connect with your posts much easier when you’re being honest with them and writing what you love. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. I’ve noticed that with Christian-themed…[Read more]

Oh my gosh XD I heard about this thread in the KP newsletter and had to check it out. I think I laughed as much as I did in the “How To Write The Worst Dystopian Novel Ever” video XD XD
@dragon-snapper “When theme is executed poorly…” That’s classic XD

I know. It’s a silly law. I really wish I knew a way around it 😛

@dragon-snapper Unfortunately, no, not that I know of 😛 There’s a law that says you have to have a physical address there.
I’m subscribed to a ton of author newsletters who use Mailchimp, and though I can see the addresses, I typically have no clue where they are beyond the state. I guess someone could look it up, but you can also keep track of…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper I think I recognize the symptoms of a tired creative 😉 Meaning, your mind is doesn’t have the energy for writing, which makes cranking out the words and getting connected to the story REALLY hard.
So…I’d say step away for a little bit if you can. Go do something else creative that you love, like music or drawing. Or just sit…[Read more]

@pickupyourpenandwrite congrats on finishing your draft! 😀
I usually let my draft sit for several weeks or months once I’m done (it seems you’ve already done that). Then I go and read through it, not making any changes, but marking things that I want to change. I do this with the comments section in Word or just write a list.
Depending on how…[Read more]

Audrey Caylin replied to the topic Any Advice for A Soon-To-Be Blogger? in the forum Publishing & Platform 6 years, 10 months ago
@jenwriter17 acutally…neither Audrey nor Caylin is part of my real name *hides* I did that because my real first name AND middle name are always misspelled and mispronounced. So my mom and I came up with something totally different, thus Audrey Caylin. (Though I definitely feel I look like an Audrey and my mom did almost name me “Carly,” thus…[Read more]

First, congrats on being almost ready to publish! That’s awesome 😀
I’ve had a blog for a little over a year now. What was surprising was how difficult it was to actually get people to read and comment on my blog. I had to go around and comment on other peoples’ posts and leave a link to mine. I learned that you have to foster…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper yes, I do! 🙂 I started one several months ago, so here’s a basic overview of how to do it.
1. Go to Mailchimp.com There are other email services to use, but I’d recommend that one. NOTE: they will ask for your address. It’s law for them to do this. My family has a PO Box, so it’s no big deal, but if you’re uncomfortable using…[Read more]

That’s a really good question! I think your blog will be a huge help with that. If you don’t have access to social media to help grow it, I’d suggest doing just what you’ve been doing — going around and commenting on blogs, leaving a link to yours in the comments. If you really engage with other bloggers, you’ll get more…[Read more]
