This is one of my favorite threads. And @epicaddie2, that is definitely what I look like right before a plot twist. 😉

@gh24682468999 I use a character questionnaire sheet I made up that used to be on KP and is currently on the Story Embers site. For me, a lot of a character has to do with asking enough questions about them to boil them down to three central qualities about who they are as a person. Once I have a set core for the character, it’s easier for me to write them.

One place to start if you don’t want to do a long questionnaire is to figure out what your character’s biggest desire is, what their biggest fear is, and what their biggest weakness (moral failing) is… You need more to a character can that, but that can give you a good start for what kind of person a character is in my experience. 🙂

            @dekreel That presumes I have a Pinterest account. 😛

This is why I don’t let @the-real-kapeefer beta-read my novels.

Thanks @dekreel. 🙂 Know that I assumed that sentiment behind those words even if you never directly said them. It’s been a blast to shoot those videos with the siblings.

@corissa-maiden-of-praise Aww; thanks. 🙂 I appreciate it a lot. You all are the bestisest people on the bestisest place on the internet. That Ecclesiastes passage is a very relevant passage for me during this time!

Yeah; I’ll still be around the forum (especially when tagged), but there’s going to be some new people taking on my role in the KP staff.

Yeah. I think it’s the “Worst Allegory Ever” video.

@ethryndal Looks like you’ve already gotten some great answers here! In my opinion, this is natural. When I started writing my current novel, I thought my primary theme was anger with a focusing question of “How should you deal with your anger?”, but during drafts and revisions, the primary theme ended up morphing into moral principles with a focusing question of “How should you follow moral principles in your decision-making?” Anger is still a major theme in the work, but it’s no longer the primary theme.

In general, the outline you initially construct may not match what you end up writing and I don’t think there’s a problem with that. You may need to re-outline your novel after the first draft, though, to figure out what plot & theme you’re actually trying to tell so that you can revise your story from there. My first drafts have always been a mess of plot, characters, and theme so I can sympathize with where you’re at right now. 😛 And I agree with what some others have said. “The worth of humanity” may be an interesting major theme to complement the primary theme of “the depravity of humanity.”

@that_writer_girl_99 Seems hard to believe it’s only been a year. Feels like you’ve been a part of this for much longer than that. 🙂

Step #1: Post the FB page link here so we can follow you. 😀

Step #2: Make sure it’s linked on your blog, and possibly include a link to it in your welcome email sequence for new subscribers (assuming you have a mailing list).

Step #3: My personal approach has been to be posting writing or reading related statuses 4-5 days a week, and then as people I know like the page, it will show up in other people’s feeds who will then be introduced to me and my writing.

Step #4: I know some people have had really good experience with FB ads. I’ve never tried them.

Step #5: A number of people I know swear by FB live videos. I’ve only done a couple for KP and never tried them for my personal page, but they’re worth trying since I know FB likes to naturally promote videos on their platform.

Interested in hearing about what other people do with their pages.

@rochellaine Haha; I was worried for a moment that I should have recognized your name on here long ago. xD No; you’re fine. I remember who you are now, and I remember enjoying talking to you since there weren’t a bunch of people who stopped by the booth for extended periods of time at CHAP. Glad to know you ended up making it over to the forum. 🙂

@dekreel Wow; well, I got to say you captured the standard opening thread replies and what I do when meeting newbies on the forum. xD

Were you one of the people I met at the CHAP conference last summer? Trying to remember when and where we met since I’m terrible with names. 😛
