Hey Kapeefers!
I need your all’s help. 😀
And I don’t think you’ll mind helping.
I’ve decided to write the third Legend of King Daeus, with the permission of my friend @dekreel, who too is writing our Kapeefer Fanfic. 😉 We’re fans of ourselves, aren’t we? Haha!
Anyway, I need help with topic, plot and stuff. Brainstorming, the stuff you…[Read more]

Joy started the topic How to Kill Off Without Killing in the forum Plotting 6 years, 11 months ago
I have a little problem. I have so many supporting characters in my KPA, that I had considered killing some of them off (nobly, don’t worry 😉 ). But then I came to my senses and thought, Why would I kill them??
The adventure itself takes place in the Kingdom of Pen, but I also have other places, more specifically, islands. (Aethasia, Araluen,…[Read more]

Sorry, my post vanished so I had to resubmit it.
On the first day of Christmas, the DeGraafinator gave to me, Daniel sipping sweet tea
On the second day of Christmas, Stormpoofer gave to me, 2 bloody pages
On the third day of Christmas, Macaroni gave to me, 3 ramen noodles
On the fourth day of Christmas, Mountain Stanton gave to me, 4 pounds of…[Read more] -

@aratrea Clearly I need to get on the forum more, but putting someone’s username underneath their actual name to save all that extra clicking was a stroke of genius.

@aratrea Thanks! Yeah, I don’t like those books where it takes you 20-50 pages to get to the truly interesting stuff.
Hmmm, I shall ponder how to craft my tale in new epic ways, knowing how to wield my sword (er, pen and keyboard) a bit better now.
Thanks again! Oh, and thanks @sierra-r for writing the article.

@aratrea, @ anybody – I am not sure how to begin my novel. Should I start it off in adventure and/or intrigue or build up to it? I have been thinking of starting it off with intrigue and then take the reader to the past by “melting into” my protagonist’s memories when she tells a friend how she got to be where she is. The story would then…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Does it Have to be Long? in the forum Plotting 6 years, 11 months ago
@aratrea 😀 Right. I think, along with the new uncertainty around the humans actually Invading Roshar and whether its right for them to be ruling most of the lands, that’s going to be a major thematic point at least for the first five books.
And Yep, that climax with Dalinar was pretty much equally as shiver-inducing as Kaladin’s… ‘You cannot…[Read more]

@aratrea 😀 I know that book!
Oathbringer was pretty mind-blowing, I thought. I was supremely satisfied with Dalinar, although I was getting angry at him in his backstory… the only thing that felt unfinished to me was the (Oathbringer spoilers for anyone randomly reading) Adolin/Sadeas conflict, it felt like it was resolved much too easily, but…[Read more]

So….I’ve heard a lot about fantasy novels being long, but Iv’e never written anything longer than 85,000 thousand words. Anything that was going to be longer than that I never finished. So I’ve been wondering…how long is the max for fantasy novels?

@aratrea Hey, Josiah!
I recently started a new novel, planning it, at least. And I can’t pick a theme for it. My plot is sorta laid out already, but I can’t find a theme. What should I do?

@aratrea No need to apologize! I’ve needed quite some time to mull over this arc anyway. 🙂
Oh, a foreshadowing scene like that would definitely help. Thank you! I was planning on her still having trouble submitting out of habit even in the resolution area.

Hey Kapeefers!
I’m stuck.
Not that Chosen One’s get stuck or anything… 😉
Anyway, recently I’ve decided to major things. One is that I’m taking a break from one story until I’m way older cause then it will be way better than it would be if I wrote it now (there are more reason for that, but it is what it is.) Two, is that I’m annoyed with…[Read more]

@shannon I don’t have time to answer this properly right now, as I’m on my way out the door, but I would suggest to you finding an online character chart to fill out ( @daeus @aratrea does KP have any character charts or things that might help Shannon?) Start there and I’ll try to give you more indepth advice when I get back. 😊

Joy replied to the topic POV Questions in the forum Characters 7 years ago
@waterlily Hmmm… Good question. Is this for the sci-fi NaNo you were talking about? 🙂
If you do first person, then you can basically get a full-on view of what the character is thinking. So you’re more inside his/her head, seeing what (s)he is seeing, feeling what (s)he is feeling. But that also means that the movement of the reader is…[Read more]
