@josiahdeboer We’re borrowing from the classical tradition of jester that writers like Shakespeare popularized, where the fool is also ironically one of the wisest people in the room (see: the Fool in King Lear). 😉 Sanderson draws on this tradition as well w/Hoid in the Stormlight Archive if you’ve read those.

@destiny No… That’s something we’ve been meaning to do with KP, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Link?

@destiny We were actually going back and forth within the team on if it should be bumbling henchman, nameless henchman, or something else. I will take your feedback into consideration there!
Yeah; I’ve noticed that as well. The stats were working fine on our test site, but don’t seem to be working here yet. It’s on my agenda of things to fix.…[Read more]

@overcomer Exactly. 😉 It’s your own version of the hero’s journey on the KP forum. Which is also why we don’t allow downgrades. Wouldn’t want any of our members to backslide on their hero’s journey, now would we? 😉

@clairec No worries. The same thing happens with my Theme Mastery students, so I’ve gotten used to it. xD

@christi-eaton The badges may or may not have been something I planned with @theliterarycrusader as a way of surprising the rest of the team with the launch. 😉

@bethanysinkyroses Haha, yes. So much beautiful wit in Austen. ^_^ Death of Ivan Ilyich is pretty good. It’s about, well, the death of Ivan Ilyich, but does a really good job of looking at death from a Christian perspective (as well as a Russian Realist perspective, which complicates things at times).

@corissa-maiden-of-praise Correct. And if someone tags me in one of their posts on this thread, I get 2 emails–one for the tag and one for the post. xD My email’s been crazy tonight!

@mariposa Yes–we couldn’t get that in time for the launch, but being able to directly upload images is in the pipeline and should be up within the next month (hopefully the next couple weeks).

@josiahdeboer The limit of 10 tags is still in existence. But we do make exceptions for announcements like this that are relevant to all members of the site. Most of them originate with the moderator team, but we do consider requests for specific posts on a case-by-case basis.
@northerner Good idea. I don’t know if we can do that outside of the…[Read more]

@jess-penrose Welcome back. 😀 Haven’t read Knight yet (she’s on my reading list), but that sounds like Method #2 to me!

@bethanysinkyroses That’s great. 100% with you about books that make you think instead of doing the thinking for you.
Haha–we do need to remedy that. 😉 Have you ever read Death of Ivan Ilyich or Pride and Prejudice?

@jess-penrose So first off, let me just say that the mess you’re facing is the mess I face nearly every time I write a novel. Plotting out the theme in your head is great to start with, but whenever story ideas meet the actual page, chaos is going to happen. xD
I wouldn’t recommend re-starting it. Instead, what you want to do is take your current…[Read more]

Hey all!
It is my pleasure to introduce you all to the new Kingdom Pen site–now faster /and/ mobile-friendly. 😀
As you may notice, it looks quite different. And while I think I’ve caught all the bugs, there may still be some that have evaded my eagle-eye. So if you find something, drop us a note here or email us at kingdompenmag@gmail.com.…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses Fantastic. As much as I do love hitting people with peppermint sticks, an alternate approach seems wiser. 😉
