My understanding of the difference between courtship and betrothal is that in courtship you have a formal time of getting to know each other on a deeper level and investigating the others beliefs to determine whether marriage is a good idea.
Betrothal on the other hand goes from friendship to engaged. They do get to know each other but…[Read more] -

@overcomer Well the second draft of Girl of the Rumours is coming along. Not as quickly as i’d like, but still coming. It turned out that balancing two projects doesn’t work for me. the one took up most of my head space leaving only enough for little bits of planning the other one.
And it’s continuing to make more and more sense as I write. The…[Read more]

@sarah-h
I’ve read I Kissed Dating Goodbye and Do Hard Things. There’ both good though make sure you don’t take I Kissed Dating Goodbye as a formula that will make everything work. A tool to help you make wise choices and explain them to you friends but not a formula. As we’ve seen recently on KP, there’s many ways people can get to being engaged/married. -

@Anne-Swiftblade Happy Birthday! I pray that God blesses you in your next year. I know sixteen can be a confusing time of life, but you’ll get though it. I wish I could say thing will get simpler, but they don’t. But God is in control so we don’t need to worry. -

@sarah-h I was learning Spanish a few years back so I’ll join in.
I have a couple of prayer requests.
One, I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing with my life. Possibilities include various Christian training and missionary ventures, volunteering with a local Christian organization, writing articles for the web, becoming a freelancer fiction…[Read more]

Anna Brie replied to the topic Story book world-HELP! in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 2 months ago
@BlueJay This idea actually reminds me of a book called The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis. I haven’t actually read the whole book thought, so I can’t tell you how similar. And you’re probably putting a completely different plot in.
You can give the beast a name. It would make him more of a realistic character, I think. There are so many…[Read more]

@Dragon-snapper I don’t know why you couldn’t find the time in Australia (We have multiple time zones actually, it’s not a small country)
But a basic rule to go by is that we’ll be awake in your afternoon and evening. -
Anna Brie replied to the topic Welcome Says Me! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 2 months ago
@ClaireC I still find it confusing. I’m used to people being awake at different times, but figuring out when something was posted is a headache. And I don’t have the time. So I just don’t know when things happened.

@ClaireC Teah they are a bit expensive. I only have one because it was a present. But there are afew cheaper ones. Put it on your wishlist.

Anna Brie replied to the topic Welcome Says Me! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 2 months ago
@ClaireC He does make them to sell. So if you really want one you can get one. Or you wait until I publish a book and have one as a giveaway prize.
@Bluejay I’ll be the shortest in a year or so. And things could be worse. I’ve got a friend who’s 18 and her 8 year old brother is getting closer to her height.

@ClaireC I’ll have you know this is my littlest brother. 🙂 (He’s not quite as tall as me yet)
He’s heading for 15. I’m 20 now. -

@overcomer I think I’ve got enough of a twist to it. But I’ve written a couple of better summarys or burbs. I need to make something halfway in between the two.
Some tales might be better left alone…

Anna Brie replied to the topic Structure and Character Arcs in the forum Characters 8 years, 2 months ago
I tend to think about the three act structure. K. M. Wieland’s version of it in particular. But I don’t really plot out my stories to intentionally adhere to that structure. Her character arc method with the ghost in your character’s past, the lie that they believe and and the truth they need to learn.

And his world is cube shaped. I’m not perfectly sure how that works physically but he’s figured something out. There’s dwarfs(Or something like them) and wolf dogs. And in the second book there’s these swords and daggers with lots of special qualities.
And he usually writes in MS Word which automatically capitalizes the first word of sentences.

@Dragon-snapper he’s writing portal fantasy. Girl falls into another world meets some people ends up saving it. Something like that at least. I need to finish reading it.
And it happens that there’s a spelling mistake in his username. It’s Snowdon not Sowdon.

@Jess I like it. Well about as much as I would like a story of that sort. I’m not all that fond of sci-fi. But I’d probably read this.
Just a random suggestion, maybe the kids shouldn’t all know each other at the start. And maybe one of them doesn’t even realize they’re not normal. What if some of the kids met up but they needed to find someone…[Read more]

@luke-c Welcome. It doesn’t matter that you’ve not written much and that it’s not great. A lot of us are only starting. And film making is great too. There are many people who will watch a movie, but not read a book.
