Jenna Terese replied to the topic Writing for a Career? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 6 months ago
@lydia-s That’s so awesome that you want to make writing a career! 😀 That’s so awesome! That’s also what I pursued after high school. I didn’t go to college for it, because I didn’t think that was necessary. I think there are plenty of other resources (books, courses, websites, videos, etc.) that you can learn adequately from without paying as…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic An amazing story idea pops into your head: What do you do? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 6 months ago
I don’t usually write it down right away. I usually just let it percolate (my favourite word, mainly because its so bizarre) in my head for a while. And if I remember it, that means I’m obsessed with it and that’s when I get a physical notebook and start making notes and outlines for it! Mostly I just forget my ideas, which is fine…[Read more]

Hello Future Me is my favourite writing YouTuber and his videos tend to be pretty ok/don’t need much censoring for language or anything like that. They’re very helpful and insightful!

Hello! You sound like a fantastic and fascinating addition to the kingdom of pen! I’m Chelsea, one of the interns, but I tend to go by SeekJustice on the forums. I’m a weird Australian, but other than that it sounds like we share a lot of interests!
The Middle Ages are awesome! My particular history hyperfixation is WW1, but…[Read more]

Ok, so I had a go at rewriting the scene and it was actually quite fun! I felt like I saw a side of the two characters that I didn’t see when I was originally writing the first draft. (by the way, this is an enemies to lovers relationship, which I know you love!)
And then they weren’t dancing anymore. They were standing in the…[Read more]

None of my men are keen on showers or cologne unfortunately, it comes of being pirates, werewolves and revolutionaries for the most part 😛
Alright, you asked for it… 😀
They stood there for several seconds, as if stunned by the performance they’d just put on, hands clasped together like they hadn’t been since their wedding day…[Read more]

@nova21 Honestly I’m a huge dreamer too so I have the same problem. XD

Well, I’m a little late to the conversation but I’m keen to get on board! I’m not much of a romance writer (or reader) and my kiss scenes are so awkward and stilted, lol. Any tips for the twenty-year-old who hasn’t got past the “ew, boys are gross” stage of life?

Jenna Terese replied to the topic Second Draft Blues in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 7 months ago
I hear ya! When I feel like that I usually try to remember my WHY. My big goal. WHY am I working on this project? Does it have a message I want people to see? Do I want to prove to myself that I can finish a hard project? Always figure out why you write every story and sometimes remembering that is enough to keep you going.
I’ve…[Read more]

Jenna Terese replied to the topic Writing about the Bible in a Fictional World? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 7 months ago
Well, maybe somehow your fictional world is connected to other worlds, including our reality, so that it sometimes is exposed to the cultures of other worlds? Then that would explain being able to have the Bible with real people and events in your fictional world. Or maybe you make it more of an allegory with characters that…[Read more]

@nova21 First, OH MY GOODNESS your story sounds so interesting! Definitely something I would read! 😀
I really like @gracie-j‘s suggestions… Maybe the dream cut off at an important part and she misses some key information; then in her reality where the vision is repeating itself she won’t have this bit of information the vision cut off. There…[Read more]

Jenna Terese replied to the topic How do you develop your story ideas? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 8 months ago
I always do a lot of brainstorming with a new idea (a.k.a. brain dumping into a journal). I basically just kinda write down whatever little ideas come to mind for the book idea, and when I feel like I have a good amount, I might try to arrange the ideas into plot points. At the same time I work on the characters too, figuring out…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What was your favorite and least favorite thing about the last book you read in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 8 months ago
@kathleenramm I’ve only read two of his superhero sci-fi books and they were all right, but not brilliant. So far, that’s been my impression of Sanderson, all right but not brilliant. I will keep reading though!

SeekJustice replied to the topic If you got to be a screen writer for a movie, what type of movie would it be? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 8 months ago
@kathleenramm Definitely a historical movie! Not so much a period drama (not like in the style of any of the Jane Austen/Jane Eyre/romance movies) but more like a biopic (or those movies that aren’t about real people but kind of have the biopic style), I guess. I’ve always dreamed of making a movie about the Wright Brothers in particular! There’s…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What was your favorite and least favorite thing about the last book you read in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 8 months ago
Interesting question! The last book I read was The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, which I finished yesterday! I think my favourite thing was how fleshed out the two main characters (Vin and Kelsier) were! I loved reading about them and rooting for them!
My least favourite thing was how long it was. That put me off reading it f…[Read more]

My very first novel was about anthropomorphic otters and was a typical revolution type story. I still have it somewhere and I’ve been desperately looking for the USB that has the story on it for months!
