@hope Yikes! Yeah, okay, I agree with you on that one! 😛 Plot twists shouldn’t just be for shock affect— they have to have resonance within the heart of the story.

One thing I’ve found interesting is how much telling there is in this book. Almost everything is told, not shown…something I’d normally put down to bad writing, but here it works because it’s the style. It a bare bones type of style, with each character having a particular distinguishing characteristic and that’s about it. And yet, it’s very powerful.

What @hope said. 😀 Also, arcs of any kind. Scene arcs, character arcs, theme arcs, emotional arcs… if they ain’t smooth, I don’t like ’em.

@overcomer That’s funny; I hadn’t noticed all the 3 letter names. 😉

What I can’t stand is unrealistic emotion; when it’s not strong enough or doesn’t seem to flow naturally. That, and the overuse of the word ‘said’.

Say, whatever you do, guys, please don’t ever get caught in the 3 letter name trap with your characters like the new Star Wars movie did. (It has a name, but I refuse to use it until I have to;) It drives me absolutely bananas!
