Kate, I have not read “A Christmas Carol”… I did go to a play of it once when I was younger.

Hope, I haven’t read the Percy Jackson books, but several of my friends have and thought the first season was very good! I did read the author’s “Kane Chronicles” trilogy which I thought were good, not my favorites but good. Have you read…[Read more]

Hey Daeus! Glad you joined us! I have actually never read ANY of your favorites, but I have heard of all three of them. I will definitely be looking into “A Tale of Two Cities”, Thanks for the suggestion! Wow, three people now have told me how good this book is, I normally don’t get that in a row! You are definitely stirring my interest to read…[Read more]

Ok! I have not read any Dickens though I am planning to eventually. Yes! While the only of Austen’s works I’ve read is Pride and Prejudice I have been planning (for about three years now…) to read some of her other works, but I do see the point with the information dump. Wow! You are DEFINITELY making me want to read “North and South”! No…[Read more]

    🙂
I do see your point with Sam :). Tolkien did a very good job with character development there.
They are! 😀 I haven’t read “St. George for England” but it sounds like it would be one to look into next go-around with Henty.
While not called upon to do so ;), I DO agree that they could have represented the culture and world at the time better.…[Read more]

  • I’m still having the error message and I am also getting it when I click on other’s names. Any help, Kingdom Pen?

Kate, I’m sorry… I actually dislike the question myself (although I’ve asked it twice…) So I am sorry.
Oh definitely! It’s so hard to choose, but, as each of the three are well-represented here, I believe that we can all agree that Tolkien did a good job at them! Hmmm… Favorite Character??? That’s worse than the favorite book question!…[Read more]

  • Well now. That’s sad. I have also really enjoyed this discussion!
I definitely do that all the time! (and most of the time I actually do have something to write it down with…) :D, yes, he did a very good job with it! I meant to say that that was a created one, but I guess I didn’t put it, so that was exactly what I was thinking, but sometimes…[Read more]

  • Yes! I definitely agree with your first paragraph. I think setting a limit would make so many authors works much better!
I have actually thought of one or two examples of symbols in books… I don’t know if you read the Redwall series or not, but in them the sword of Martin the Warrior pretty much symbolized good fortune and the fact that if…[Read more]

    Hey Sarah!
I definitely see your point with liking Return of the King. 😀 I definitely understand the torture of picking a favorite book! When it comes down to it I think whatever I’m reading at the time is my favorite most of the time! 😉 I’ve never heard of the books or the author, actually! Second time in two days, what is the world coming…[Read more]

  • Oh Whoops! I should have realized that as well.
Ahh… I definitely see what you mean there, and yes, those can definitely add, but can also definitely subtract from your writing. I think that in some situations these types can be used… well, a little too often. If in every, or even just every other chapter and scene you put in another one of…[Read more]

    Oh Whoops! Headed that way…

Hey Kate! Hmm… Symbols. I think it definitely depends on many things. Such as, how often do you use symbols? I wouldn’t want one in every piece of work, but it is definitely cool to have them in some or, depending on what you write, I prefer symbols in longer works rather than shorter. Putting them in shorter is great as long as you give the…[Read more]

  • Heehee! I’ll leave that to Penguin Gandalf as well! 😀

Oh my! How could I forget “The Lord of the Rings!” Definitely another favorite on my end as well:D. I’ve heard a lot of great things said about “A Tale of Two Cities”, I’m hoping to read that sometime soon😃. Hmm… I haven’t heard of any of those series’ but they sound cool! Louis L’Amour is definitely one of my family’s favorite authors, we…[Read more]

Hey y’all! I’m always looking for new reading material so… I was wondering what your favorites were???
Mine are “Won by the Sword” and “When London Burned” by G.A. Henty, “Sackett’s Land” and “To the Far Blue Mountains” by Louis L’Amour, along with most of the rest of the Sackett series, and I have several others (well, let me rephrase, dozens…[Read more]

Also, (I should have put this in the first one but didn’t think of it until I had posted) I’m not really sure if you see my name or username in the posts so that is why it says that… 😀

  • Hannah replied to the topic Hello! in the forum Start HERE 9 years, 4 months ago

Hey Mallory! My real name is Hannah, but I liked Aella- which means whirlwind- for a username:). How long have you been on Kingdom Pen?

  • Hannah started the topic Clicking on my name??? in the forum 9 years, 4 months ago

Any time I click on my name I get a 404 error message that says I still have to sign up for the forum, and then a Penguin Gandalf guy who says that I have to sign up for the newsletter. I’ve done both so I don’t know what the problem is, Any help?
