Hey everyone! We have a new contest for you!
For this contest, you will be tasked with writing the lyrics to a song. What it is about and how long is up to you! The winner(s) will be chosen by Tom and Jo, two musicians from the backwoods of the northern Connecticut wilderness. Tom and Jo will then turn the winner(s) lyrical creation into an actual song which you can then download!
All you need to do is write up your song in a Word document, and email it to kingdompenmag@gmail with the subject line: “Lyric Contest Entry”. This contest will be open from now until October 20th!
If you’d like to hear a sample of Tom and Jo’s music, take a listen!
Only one entry per person is allowed, and this contest is open to all Kingdom Pen subscribers. The subject matter of the entries must also not violate our content publishing guidelines.
We can’t wait to see your entries!
Happy writing!
Is there a deadline?
I think the deadline is October 20th.
Looks like the 20th, Daeus. 🙂
Oh, yea. Somehow I missed that. This is going to be a fun contest.
Oh boy… this is definitely not my strong point. 😛
I’ll give it a shot, though.
I’m with Kate, this is not my strong point. However, I actually did write a song several months ago, so I may just send those lyrics in…the only thing is, it already has a tune in my head (not written out on the musical staff, though, because that’s not how I compose–a.k.a., I’m lazy). Oh well. It would still be interesting to see. 🙂
Awesome! But, gosh… a song about anything? How will I choose?
And usually my poems are super opinionated, so I hope I don’t offend or weird out the musicians. 😛
Would the winner be able to share her/his desires for the melody?
The winner certainly could, but it’s ultimately going to up to Tom and Jo as for what they want to do with the song.
