Character Arcs and Character Development

There is something so satisfying about getting to the end of a book or movie and seeing just how much all the characters - particularly the protagonist or that one character with the redemption arc- has transformed. The events of the story have changed the characters, and because of that change in the characters, it drives the plot to its finale. Plot, theme, and character development are inseparable, and good character arcs and development are what makes the entire story so impactful, and remain in your reader's memory long after they have closed the book. 

However, this isn’t always easy. In fact, it gets quite complicated and confusing. Done wrong, it can end up feeling unnatural and forced. So this month, we hope to help you, dear Keeper, learn how to use character arcs and character development to help craft a story that is not only memorable, but also inspires your readers to think more deeply, and maybe even make a change - no matter how small - in their own lives.
