Editor's note: We at Kingdom Pen believe that God created everyone in His image, no matter skin color, beliefs, age, or location, and thus affirm the exceeding value of all lives. Although we agree with the principle and statement of "black lives matter", we disagree with many of the tenants of the organization that uses this motto, including its anti-life pro-abortion stance, which is the subject of this poem.
By Terah Stevens
“Black Lives Matter. . .
But living human embryos don’t.”
They say it mentally,
And if you comment they answer temperamentally,
“My body, my choice.”
The refrain continues,
The pain renews.
Lord, please help the blind see.
Take this anger away from me.
But the anger stays, boiling inside.
It won’t go away,
my heart divides.
The blind remain blind,
Though their eyes are open wide,
The deaf stay deaf
Though their ears are on their head.
And so the pain stays there
It’s trying to break my heart with despair.
The darkness deepens.
Light seems to dwindle.
Is God even there?
Doesn’t he care?
Shadows cover us like a shroud,
And the Son’s light seems to be hidden by a cloud.
But he’s there, brighter than all.
Holding us up.
Keeping us from the fall.
Black Lives Matter. . .
But living human embryos don’t.
They repeat it again.
They sound insane.
But darkness cannot shine,
Even if it forever tries.
Light can come from light.
And only light.
The Lord will be our light,
And then the darkness will die.
Blind can see only when He gives them sight.
Deaf can only hear when He gives them ears;
And when he is King, love will reign.
But still the refrain repeats;
Black Lives Matter. . .
But living human embryos don’t.
Do they know what they’re saying?
We watch them lose,
And we know they’re just confused.
But it still hurts.
They cry out because police lack justice.
Then in blindness, they kill an embryo.
They say it’s for the child,
They say it’s just themselves that they're hurting.
God, please help them see!
The anger grows.
The pain shows.
Christians cry and mourn.
Yet we rejoice in his love as we pray;
Please Lord,
Please.
Break the chain of sin that binds these men and women.
They kill their innocent children.
They say it’s for the best,
We can feel our joy diminishing,
As they put the experiment to the test.
An embryo is a human of God.
Whatever color, person, or race.
The refrain continues,
The pain renews.
And we stay crying whilst innocent children are dying.
We plead with the Lord to help.
Can he be here?
Is he angered like us?
Silence.
And through the silence we know:
He is.
His anger grows,
His patience is all that holds him back.
He wants to stop it all-
But he waits.
He waits;
For their corrupted minds to still and turn.
Turn to the light and King.
For darkness cannot shine,
Even if it tries.
Light is Light,
And only Light.
They try again.
To weave their lies into our souls.
But His truth has touched us.
Light holds us.
And darkness cannot win.

This is beautiful, Terah! Keep using your gifts to glorify the Lord!! 😊
This is amazing! I get worked up about this, too. Especially when adoption is always an option and when people don’t understand that abortion isn’t just an eraser or a backspace button. Great job, Terah!
