@smiley Alright, so, I guess Joshua is next!!!
if you wanna dare hear about the rest of them, at least XD
As the second oldest of the Bois, Joshua helps Leo look out for their younger brothers, and has always stood as a sort of helper to Leo throughout the years when it comes to keeping an eye on their brothers, especially when Reuben and Wolfgang were really young.
Having been 8 when his mother had to leave, Joshua remembers her, but some of his memories are hazy, due to him still being in his youth and, sadly, even the abuse he’s been through. But maybe what Joshua remembers most is his mother’s love for music and her gentle, soprano voice when she sang lullabies she created herself for her 5 boys.
Joshua holds onto the guitar she gave him to this day and plays it as often as he can.
In the 16 years since his mother’s leaving, Joshua, like all of his brothers, have suffered abuse at Frida and Felix’s hands. Joshua tried to take it, but all of the pain…it was finally too much for him. At the age of 15, he took his father’s rifle that he used in the Great War (WWI) and went into the nearby woods, planning to end his own life.
But just as he was about to shoot, he heard a song that sounded exactly like one of the ones his mother used to sing, and Joshua followed the sound, leaving the rifle in the dirt, and he stumbled into a church as a lost and broken teen boy. There, he met Ezekiel Gessner, a young pastor, and more importantly…
…Joshua met Jesus.
Joshua returned home later that afternoon, even evening time, having surrendered his life to Christ at the church meeting. He has never looked back.
Loyal, firm, devoted, passionate, loving, and highly intelligent, Joshua does his best to keep his brothers calm in even the craziest of circumstances. Almost seeming like a natural pillar, his brothers (even Leo) can count on him to give advice when needed. Never one to turn his back on those he loves, Joshua will never turn his brothers away, and he will certainly never let them down.
But his desperation to see his brothers saved can come with its own problems…and Joshua feels as if he isn’t doing his “Christian duty” well enough, a feeling even more forceful when his stepmother uses that weakness to manipulate him.
not to mention the tension Joshua has with Leo over God.
Joshua tries to only believe in God’s extending grace for his faults…
…but is it so uncommon to believe that God’s grace isn’t quite enough?

@smiley ikr? ππ
I knowwwww, Joshua is so sweet!! π₯°
and OF COURSE I will tell you more!!!!!!!
Next up (since I already told you about Jakob, lol) Reuben!!
better tag @mineralizedwritings for this one πXD
The second youngest of the Bois at 19, Reuben was only 3 when his mother had to leave. Thus, he only remembers a hazy, blurry face and the soft lullabies she used to sing. Always looking up to his older brothers, Reuben has always had an example of how men are actually supposed to act (even if his brothers aren’t the best at it.)
A naturally gentle soul, Reuben has been drastically damaged by the abuse of his father and stepmother, even more than his brothers (if you can believe thatπ ). Locked in the cellar of their home when he was only 7 by Frida, he harbors an intense fear of tight spaces and the dark, and will have panic attacks and flashbacks when either occurs.
Gentle, quiet, soft, compassionate, and creative, Reuben is a natural artist, excelling in sketches, calligraphy, painting, and everything in between. It’s rare that his brothers don’t find him with a pencil or brush in hand, and even rarer that he doesn’t have flecks of various paints on his cheeks, hands, and arms. Art is his coping skill, and he uses it to help him deal with his trauma.
Due to the abuse he’s suffered, and especially due to the words of his stepmother, Reuben sees himself as worthless, and thinks he will never be worth anything to anyone…ever.
When he looks in the mirror, he sees nothing of value…
…and besides, who would want to love someone so broken anyhow?

and last but not least…
Wolfgang!!
The youngest, Wolfgang doesn’t remember his birth mother at all…in fact, his stepmother is the only mother he’s known. Due to that, Wolfgang thinks that the way his parents act is…normal, even if it hurts…a lot.
Isn’t it normal for parents to not be nice?
After all, Wolfgang’s father and stepmother aren’t.
His 16 years of life have been filled with abuse, but it’s also been filled with older brothers that have loved him with everything they have. He loves his brothers, and has always looked up to them, even if Leo and Joshua’s tension unnerves him and Jakob’s anger confuses him.
He’s gotten into trouble, but nowhere near as much as his brothers, who have always done everything they can to take Wolfgang’s beatings on themselves to protect their baby brother, even Reuben, who’s only 3 years older.
Optimistic, creative, an avid reader, highly intelligent, and eager to learn, Wolfgang has a passion for medicine and has a dream to be a doctor one day to help sick and hurt people. His compassion for others has no match, and wherever possible, Wolfgang will seek out someone hurting just so he can help them out. Even if he never has the answers, he always has the optimism that can make a smile appear on almost any face.
He may not enjoy his life the best, but he has his brothers, and that’s all that matters.
Besides, everything will work out in the end, right!?
…Right?
