Oh, cool. I’d love to ride. I’ve only ridden a couple of horses my entire life. Is the horse show English style? (Horse shows are English and rodeos are Western, right?) If I ever had a horse I’d want to have a sidesaddle. 😛
Daughter of Judas hangs in my head and fills my thoughts constantly, but I can’t get much down on paper. I did write a few poems – or parts of poems – yesterday, though. 🙂

@rochellaine Yes, I ride English. Horse shows can have English and Western classes in them, but rodeos are just for Western. Sidesaddle is pretty cool. I once read an article about a lady who jumped horse in a sidesaddle. O.O
Well I hope you get a sudden surge of inspiration and all those words in your head will flow out onto the paper (er, um, laptop screen 😉 ).
Yes, I’m still hoping to do NaNo. Planning is going pretty well; I haven’t finished fully outlining quite yet, but I can always finish that as I’m writing I guess (if my sanity allows it, that is 😉 ).

Yes, I guess it’s a lot more dangerous than sitting astride, but of course women used to jump with sidesaddles all the time. I’d love to go on an old fashioned fox hunt with a red riding coat and a side saddle. It’s a Maryland thing, after all. 😉
Thanks, I hope so too. 🙂 Speaking of paper vs. screen…what do you think of typewriters? I’ve been thinking lately that while not the most efficient for editing purposes, they might be great for sitting down with no distractions, because you can’t get pulled away by the internet if you use a typewriter.

@rochellaine My previous riding instructor has gone on a couple fox hunts. It would be a cool thing to try! 😀
I personally LOVE the look of vintage typewriters and their pleasant clicking sound. I’ve heard of a couple ‘smart’ typewriters that people like to use nowadays, like this one. I would prefer the nice old-fashioned kind though.

I didn’t know you competed in horse shows! I’ve done stewarding at a couple of horse shows and I’m sad to say that I have never found horse show people particularly nice, so I hope that you speak politely to all the stewards you come across.
(Assuming of course that you have stewarding)

Well, since it’s my first time (and I haven’t actually competed yet), it’s hard to say, but I really enjoy the intense riding sessions practicing different things for the show. It was fun ordering our team matching jackets and polo tees too. 🙂
I think I’ll be on for a while. 🙂

Basically, look after the judge, record the results, panic over disappearing trophies, continually ask people “how on earth do you spell that??”, recieve numerous complaints and take the blame for quite a lot of what goes wrong.
I quite enjoy the experience, though each year I vow that I’ll never do it again.

@seekjustoce Oooooooh…I guess I didn’t know the official name for the person that does that cuz I’ve done that before for a small show. 🙂
There are five classes for this show; 1) Equitation 2) hunter under saddle 3) western pleasure 4) horsemanship 5) costume class. Yes, you saw that last one. 😛 There’s a costume class with the horses; It’s gonna be a really small show at our home stable. I’ll be competing in Equitation and Hunter under saddle. Dressing up in costume just isn’t my thing 😉
