            You didn’t tag me so I didn’t realise you responded till just then.

            I have explained before that I was never much into girl books. And while I liked Anne of Green Gables, I never adored it.

            Mary thinks Dickon is magic, but as far as I know there’s no charms, I’m almost at the end.

            I love Little Women! It’s one of my favourite books. But other than it and Good Wives, I don’t think I’ve read any of her other books.

            You don’t get to enjoyย more books, just different ones. After all, there’s lots of books I like that you don’t.

              @rochellaine, It was more of a fanart thing of sorts haha. Long delayed. Though I’m not sure what “style” it was. “My style” I guess haha.

                @seekjustice Oh, didn’t I?ย  Whoops! ๐Ÿ˜›

                I used to like boys books way more than girls books, because they had more adventure.ย  Now I like both.ย  We also had a lot more boys books than girls books when I was growing up because I have an older brother… ๐Ÿ˜‰

                I like Alcott except for her feminism, but that’s hard to avoid in any case.ย  Jo’s Boys is sad, and I don’t like it.ย  I like An Old Fashioned Girl (can you guess why? ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha) Eight Cousins is also good, as is the sequel, but it’s been a really long time since I read them, so I couldn’t tell you what happened in them.

                Haha, what books do you like that I don’t?ย  (I like Les Mis fine, it’s just not one of my favorites.)

                @xonos-darkgrate
                haha, okay. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hm, I guess one way to categorize it would be…is it realistic or does it have exaggerated features?ย  Since it’s fanart I would assume it’s got exaggerated features in the modern style?

                  Well, I tried to make it as realistic as it could. But I’m a bit of an amateur, so I guess you could say it was pretty exaggerated in a sense haha. I can post a link to it, if you’d like. It’s a drawing of a moderator on another forums I go to. He left a while ago, so I sort of drew it in tribute of him.

                      @rochellaine

                      Alcott never struck me as particularly feminist. What makes you say that?

                      Have you ever read any Rosemary Sutcliff? I’m not sure whether you’d like them or not, but I love her stories.

                      I don’t know imagine you’d like many of the myriad of fantasy stories I consume. Or most of Charles Dickens. Have you ever read Elizabeth Gaskall? Or Elizabeth Goudge?

                        @xonos-darkgrate Oh, cool.ย  I prefer realistic myself, but a lot of the people on the forum like the modern styles.ย  Haha, I was about to ask you what fandom it was for.ย  I guess it’s not. ๐Ÿ˜›

                        Do you have any writing projects you’re currently working on? (not necessarily at this moment, just ones that are in progress.)

                        @catwing
                        I feel like I should recognize those names. *frowns* Oh, don’t vanish!ย  Or at least leave us your grin.ย  We could always use a grin. ๐Ÿ˜€ (there’s mine)

                        @seekjustice
                        I read her biography, and she was the old fashioned kind of feminist like Laura Ingalls Wilder.ย  But basically the themes in Alcott’s books that I dislike are the ones about how women should go out of the home and earn their own living.ย  I don’t mind Jo so much because her father really couldn’t support her, but I think Alcott has similar subtly woven themes in several of her books. I’ve not read Sutcliff, Gaskell, or Goudge, though I’ve heard of the first two.

                        Okay, yeah, I don’t read much fantasy.ย  And I don’t really like Charles Dickens, though I enjoyed A Christmas Carol despite the fact that it totally freaked me out. (I’d seen the Christian musical version originally, so I already loved the story, and that’s probably what made me tolerate it.)ย  Speaking of classics, you still haven’t read Mark Twain!ย  Or…have you, and not told me?

                          @seekjustice Let me clarify what I’m sure you already know: I have no problem with women earning money.ย  My opinion on that is just really complicated, and I didn’t like a couple of the themes in Alcott’s books.

                          Just in case what I said about Alcott was confusing. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I think I just made it more confusing. ๐Ÿ˜›

                          Oh, I was meaning to ask you, what do you think of Irish stepdancing?ย  And what about the modern variation of Irish stepdancing as seen in Riverdance?

                            @rochellaine

                            Ah, fair enough. Those sort of things don’t bother me as much so I guess I’d never noticed it.

                            What about Edith Nesbitt?

                            I like watching Irish dancing. I took semi-official classes last year and it was really, really hard. I also like listening to the music.

                            Though I’ve only seen modern Irish and I haven’t seen any older stuff.

                              @seekjustice Well, Edith Nesbit wrote mostly fantasy, right?ย  So, no. ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  My little sister has a series about a blue and yellow striped dragon.ย  I don’t remember what it’s called, but I think it’s pretty well known.ย  The other fantasy series I’ve read are the Kingdom Series by Chuck Black, Seven Sleepers by Gilbert Morris, and the Terrestria Chronicles by Ed Dunlap. As far as I can remember, that’s all.ย  Oh, and I’ve read lots of fairy tales.ย  Lots. Probably not as many as you, however. ๐Ÿ˜›

                              Do you like Riverdance?ย  That’s a musical we haven’t discussed before. ๐Ÿ˜€

                              Speaking of fanstasy, what do you think of Into the Woods?ย  That’s another musical I don’t think we’ve discussed. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

                                Blue and yellow striped dragon sounds familiar but I can’t think what series that is.

                                I’ve read parts of both the Kingdom series and The Seven Sleepers but I didn’t particularly like either of them ๐Ÿ˜›

                                I love Riverdance. I have the CD and I really enjoyed it when my dance teacher and her niece (who was the one giving the Irish classes) did the Riverdance together. My teacher did the Scottish version and her niece did the Irish version.

                                I’ve heard of Into the Woods but never listened to it. What do you think of it?

                                  @seekjustice Well, I believe they’re aimed toward younger kids.ย  They’re not amazing, but they’re cute.ย  The Seven Sleepers series is really confusing and badly organized, but makes more sense once you notice that each book is a parody of some legend or famous story, including Narnia, Atlantis, Star Trek, and others.

                                  My favorite part of Riverdance is the Irish stepdancing vs. American tap dancing duel.ย  Probably because…well, I’m an American! ๐Ÿ˜›

                                  Because it’s a fantasy I wouldn’t watch the whole thing, which is disappointing because I absolutely love parodies!ย  But because it’s a parody I like some of the songs.ย  I recently listened to (watched the YouTube movie clip of) “Agony” and found it absolutely hilarious.ย  I think you’d probably enjoy it.ย  It’s got darker themes, like the musicals you enjoy, rather than the happy-go-lucky musicals I usually prefer. ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  But it’s also funny and cute, and you could do all your comparisons because there are different versions like there are with Phantom and Les Mis.
