Hand shaking just isn’t a thing with youths here, which is a shame because I like shaking hands (it makes me feel powerful since I can make grown butchers wince. I just have to remember not to crush the old ladies). But you can always go for the high five if they initiate it. 😛
I was stalking Jen’s self publishing thread and saw that you have experience with Lulu! I wish to print out a copy of my long short story for editing purposes (not for sale at this point) but the formatting has me stumped and I was finding it quite difficult with with RSI in my wrists. I was wondering if you’d like to format it for me (and you could read it too, you’ve expressed a desire to read this story several times) and I will be your grateful and devoted servant for quite a while. Its only 15-16k so hopefully it won’t be too hard. Maybe. (Definitely not as hard as flying to the moon anyway.)

May 10, 2018 at 8:42 am #72308@seekjustice Oh yeah, I was thinking about young people a bit older, I guess. Kids up until they’re about sixteen or seventeen don’t shake hands with each other, though always with older people. (The older initiates, though, unless there’s a precocious youngster. 😉 ) When they get to their late teens they start shaking hands with each other, but it’s still not very common. I was speaking more of guys in their early twenties.
High five isn’t as common in my circles as the fist bump, and it’s not polite for a guy to do that with a girl (late teens or twenties) unless he knows her really, really well, or if they’re a little kid. However, I think that’s just us, and not an American thing, since I’ve had high fives other places.
I have never had the desire to make a butcher wince. Just so you know. 😛
Okay, I can probably do that! Which story is it, though? Formatting is actually pretty simple once you know how to do it, so I’d be happy to do it and show you how, if you like, so you can do the next one more easily.
Do you use Word to write? Could you send me the Word document by email?

May 10, 2018 at 11:42 am #72312@rochellaine You mean the thing guys mostly do, they handshake then use their free arms to hug? If that’s what you’re talking about, I don’t think it’s weird. A lot of people do it. I think it’s kinda a guy thing. 🙂 very American @seekjustice 😉

www.jennaterese.comMay 10, 2018 at 11:52 am #72313@jenwriter17 Yup. Apparently it’s only an American thing. No, I don’t think it’s weird, it was @seekjustice who originally said she thought it sounded weird. But I guess it would be hard to picture if you’ve never seen it. I know that it’s actually hard for people from other countries to get because we had a family from Canada stay with us a little while ago and when they were leaving their dad tried to do the handshake hug which I assume he must have seen or heard that we do in America, but he completely could not figure out how to do it… 😛
So basically, SeekJustice will have to come to America so we can show her the handshake hug. 😉 And how convenient and useful it is to guys who want to greet casually where a handshake would be too formal and a hug would be too cuddly, right?

@rochellaine, I think the handshake/hug is weird, but that might be because I lived in Asia for so longWIP - Decisions

This is the WW1 short story/novellette thing I was editing a little while ago and telling you about.
Thank you so much!! That would be brilliant 😉

May 10, 2018 at 7:07 pm #72324@skredder Awesome! 😉
I’m working on my dystopian WIP, hoping to finish the first draft and edit before the Realm Makers conference. I hope to get an editor to take a look at it there. 🙂
