Recently I’ve found there’s another way of titling ships. Rather than just combining the characters’ names, you can use one or two words that have an aspect of both their personalities or are related to them or their character arcs. This helps if the names combine into something really weird, or just for fun. It also works much better than name combo if you only want the characters to have a platonic relationship and just want to know when you’re talking about the two of them. However, it is a little harder to type and can be awkward, so it should probably be used sparingly.
For example, let’s pull a charrie Whaley will know from my database: Mundy, aka Sniper. I’m not the first person to design a character to ship him with…lol (guy’s pretty lonely in his canon ok??). One artist I saw paired him with her character Avian, or Seeker, whose job is aerial recon–hunting down enemy team members and alerting her team to their position. They called the pairing “Target Practice” because that’s effectively what brings Seeker and Sniper together–she seeks out the enemies, and he kills them once she’s found them for him.
(Jaylen/Huntress–my character who I paired him with–and Sniper have largely the same dynamic, funny enough, except Huntress’s role has nothing to do with flying. But I’m not gonna steal that artist’s ship title. I’ll find my own. And no, there aren’t two characters fighting over the same guy, they would technically exist in entirely different universes.)

@keilah-h Cool! I like how creative the names can get. I’ve considered things like Ink Frost, but I’m still working on the story so maybe something better will come up as I’m writing it.
