@lightoverdarkness6 @esther-c @keilah-h (really sorry if you weren’t a part of this, I’m forgetting who I was talking too)
I talked to my sister the other day, and she had been reading a lot of wingfeather stream comments, and told me some really interesting stuff.
Ok so wingfeather saga replied to a comment about not sticking to the books, and they said they want to give the kids more agency. So stuff won’t just happen to the kids, they will make decisions. Also, according to some very observant commenter, we didn’t look at the scene with the chimney falling close enough. A dark figure runs out from the side of the screen. And, the dragon thing that fell on the chimney was gone. (Who moved it?) My sister pointed out that the chimney was cracked, but maybe peet affected how it fell? I don’t know, just something I wanted to share. really excited to see how it pans out!

December 14, 2022 at 10:21 am #124369Thanks for thinking of me! 😀 I’ve actually *cringe* never read WFS…so…I’ll probably stay away from this topic just so I don’t spoil it for if I ever get around to reading it/watching it.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
December 14, 2022 at 1:09 pm #124386@mineralizedwrtitngs I haven’t watched the episode yet! I’ll have to see it!

Ahh! The episode was so good! To those who saw it: which song did you like better (I always notice music and acting but never animation, wigs or costumes so I’m not a good one to ask on those things. But music! Ugh, so good! Ask me about that and I’ll basically rant if the music is amazing like this one)? The bard’s song or the sea dragon/Leeli’s song? I loved both but the bard’s was my favorite! 😍😁
December 14, 2022 at 3:03 pm #124418Hi there! I’d just like to request a little more information on how the plot of the Wingfeather show- I’m pretty skeptical, because I’m nitpicky with the characters and from what I’ve seen the art really isn’t my favorite, and hearing about plot changes makes me even less likely to watch as I am very, very fond of the original books and I thought they were pretty darn close to perfect. I guess that was a terrible run-on sentence, but I did just finish my reread of Anne of Green Gables. Appreciate any information!
(I’m okay hearing spoilers for the show, but I understand there are others on this thread who don’t want them so if nobody shares any spoilers that’s fine too.)

*You’ve Been Warned*
I personally enjoyed the first two episodes. For me, they captured the characters’ personalities and the first book’s style very well – and those two are kinda the most important things. Must come from having Peterson as a producer. As for the plot, there are a few added details – for example, a full out game of zibzy with Sara and their two neighbors (what were those boys’ names?). And some events are combined\simplified. The one big change I can remember is that Sara hasn’t been taken by the black carriage yet. But it makes sense, because they want you to sympathise with her better, and understand the danger.
Similarily, some characters are more involved than they were before. Sara, Florinia, Shaggy – they get actual screentime.
I understand the caution with the art. After the events of the last book, it’s easy to imagine the characters in a more serious style. But for the first book, which is clearly easy-going and quirky, it works for the most part.
Anyways, that’s just me. *Shrug*

Oh, and something I sorta liked was how Tink and Zouzab race for fun in Books and Crannies. They’re both fast and Tink loves a challenge, so yeah. I just liked that detail too.

December 14, 2022 at 4:05 pm #124455Ooooooh!! That makes so much sense now! 😂 Thx!!
I suppose they could’ve made that a little more obvious, even though I know they were trying to make is mysterious, but that’s just my thoughts.
And the choice to have the kids making more decisions is really good, because the first book kind of pushed them around.

December 14, 2022 at 5:16 pm #124483Thanks! That doesn’t sound too bad. The changes you mentioned do make sense and seem to not have a negative/large impact on the story. I see your point on having the art be more quirky and fun; I guess I’m just not a fan of that art style in general. 🤷♀️ I’m just not a fan of the weird proportions, where the kids have kind of huge heads. And this is again, personal peeve but since I’m a brunette and my little sister is blonde, I always pictured Janner as dark-haired and Tink as being blonde. And to my memory that’s actually how they were described in the books, but I could be wrong. But like I said, that’s a very personal thing, since I connect so strongly to Janner, as an older sister, and see my sister as being so similar in personality to Kalmar. So maybe I will give it a try, but I’m not sure I’ll ever see the animated characters as the Wingfeather children in my mind’s eye.
December 14, 2022 at 6:09 pm #124488Yeah, that makes sense. It’s totally fine not to like that style.. I questioned the designs for the short film, because their heads were basically – I don’t know, barrels? on tiny stick bodies. They changed them some for the actual show, tho, which is good. I guess it depends on what you exaggerate.
What?? Same! I’ve always pictured Janner as brown-haired and Tink as blond. Leeli, kind of in between.
Wow, I didn’t catch that 😮 But I really like what they did with the dragon kite

December 14, 2022 at 9:00 pm #124521Yeah, I have seen the short film and really wasn’t a fan of the disproportionate heads of the characters. It’s promising that you say it’s been changed a little, though.
December 14, 2022 at 9:44 pm #124525This is how much it’s changed:
Same style, but a little less dramatic

So were you a supporter? I have a friend who was and she was surprised I hadn’t seen the 2nd episode until she remembered that it must have only been for supporters. Tomorrow I’ll get to see episode 2! 🥳 I was going to read your comment until I saw that you said it was for the 1st 2 episodes so I skipped it. Lol.
