*nods head slightly* You as well. 😁 (You’re a throne warden, am I right?)
It did. It should get better, though… I hope 😜

You guys are probably all going to hate this but I don’t like the 1st book. Don’t get me wrong, the series in and of itself was amazing but if it hadn’t been for one of my friends telling me to stick with it, I would not have read the rest. The fact that they escaped the fangs not once, not twice but 3x is enough for me to hate it. I love his style and irony (I guess)/redundancy, but the 1st book’s plot is very weak. I do think he got better but I kinda wish he had waited before he published the 1st book and got more experience, ya know? Feel free to disagree with me but I’d love to know your reasoning. I know this is for loving on books but I did want to rant about this. Lol.

Oh, I understand. His first book is definitely not on the same level as his others. It’s more childlike and a little too obvious. I’m so glad you kept reading, though!
However, while I understand many of the flaws of the book, I like it all the same. It’s not at all as good as his others, and it’s not my favorite (which is currently North! Or be Eaten but is subject to shift among the last three.), But it managed to hook my imagination.
Who is Peet the Sockman?
Will they learn about who their father was?
Even “What did that have to do with anything?” questions didn’t hurt it for me.
Yet, I think I just liked the characters enough that I wanted to find out what happened. It was very satisfying to find them developed deeper in the next books.
It has been a while since I read it, though. Maybe I should again.

I felt a little awful after reading the last book, but I love the end, really. Not the first time I read it through, oh no, not till I’d reread the last two chapters a half dozen times. And then wrote the next chapter with my sister. It helped to know what happens next, even if we wrote it ourselves.
First Grand Historian of Arreth and the Lesser Realms (aka Kitty)
Fork the GorkDecember 9, 2022 at 7:06 pm #123918I like the first book, but I can see how someone could be annoyed with it. The whole world took me by storm.
In fact, for me the hardest part in the series to read was between Artham’s capture and the Fork! Factory!. But that could have been from reading that part in the car… Yeah.

Fork the GorkDecember 9, 2022 at 8:32 pm #123933It’s… complicated
I’ll say this much, you might not interpret it that way.

December 9, 2022 at 8:35 pm #123935Yeah, the first book is definitely not the best (especially with the repetitive Fang escapades), but it had enough quirkiness that I was instantly entertained.

I can readily agree with you about the first book. Compared to the others, it wasn’t that good. The series was recommended to me by a friend and I knew my cousin had read it, so I tried it. I did the first book for a book report and actually found it to be one of the easiest book reports I’ve ever done.
I agree with @elishavet-pidyon about the first book being more childish. Like, the series is recommended for 8-12 year olds, but I feel like eight year olds wouldn’t understand the deeper meaning that the last book carries. At least that’s what I think. I only know one eight year old.😅
I’d say my favorite book is Warden and the Wolf King.

Ok now I’m confused.
And libby doesn’t have book three. And the roads are bad. Lol I might just end up getting a audible free trial.
I must know.
