I have SO many songs. Not sure if they all really describe me, but people are generally described by the things they love, so here they are:
Riptide by Vance Joy, Try by Mandy Harvey, When in Rome by Nickel Creek, I Should’ve Known Better also by Nickel Creek, Hunnybee by Unknown Mortal Orchestra, A-punk by Vampire Weekend, Backyard Boy by Claire Rosinkranz, Run Boy Run by Woodkid, Come Along, Pelicans We, and The Moss all by Cosmo Sheldrake, Sunflower by Post Malone, Turnaround by Hans Zimmer and Camille, Running with the Wolves by AURORA
I’m sorry that’s such a long list

December 11, 2022 at 4:08 pm #124097I have a lot! One I really like for my character Christopher is “Angel Fire” by Fernando Ortega. And “A Whole New World” from Aladdin (I especially like Peter and Evynne Hollens’ version) is great for him and Briana.
Dark is the Shadow, and yet my heart rejoices.

Great topic! Let me go check my playlist real quick . . .
Okay, for Elinor, I think Metamorphosis II, a sad Scottish fiddle tune called My Nanny O, and “Life” by Ludovico Einaudi fit really well. I know, they’re all instrumental, but I find it hard to concentrate on writing while listening to songs with words.
I have yet to find a song for Aedan.
“The Spheres by Ola Gjeilo fits Durwin really well, I think. And near the end of Einaudi’s “Life” there’s a theme that also fits him.
I don’t have music for Swallowtail Summer yet!
Be brave. Be strong. Be bold.

Cool! I love music from Peter and Evynne Hollens!

Okay! Cool! Yeah, I can’t listen to music with lyrics while writing either. I always love singing along to the words 😅. Those sound cool! If you post any more of your book, be sure to tag me!! 😊

I really like Peter Hollens as well. He does some really good fantasy ballads his songs from A Game of Thrones (I have never watched or read the show/books) and His version of I see fire are really good
December 12, 2022 at 4:13 pm #124213@lightoverdarkness6 So while I haven’t figured out theme songs, per se, I love to listen to movie soundtracks, and sometimes repurpose them for my own stories. Hence, the Transformers movie soundtracks are re-used for the story involving my character Jareth. I haven’t even seen those movies and I’m really not into that kind of story anyway, but the majestic/sometimes dramatic feel of the songs was perfect for his character arc and the world he lives in.
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
December 12, 2022 at 7:47 pm #124254I love music from Peter and Evynne Hollens!
I know, it’s so great! Do you have any favorites? I also like “For the Dancing and the Dreaming” and “I See the Light.”
I’ve never listened to any of his Game of Thrones songs–I try to stay away from even the music for Game of Thrones. But I love “I See Fire!” It fits my WIP really well. And Peter’s other songs from The Lord of the Rings are really good, too.

December 12, 2022 at 8:08 pm #124260That makes sense the only reason I found them was because I was listening to I see Fire on youtube and left the autoplay on and It started playing one of them.
December 12, 2022 at 8:54 pm #124264I haven’t seen the Transformers yet either, but I LOVE the music!! Especially ‘Auto-Bots reunite.’ I’ve seen you say stuff about Jareth before! Is he your favorite character?
I like “I see Fire” and the song from the Hobbit that he re-did. I don’t know the exact name, but it has something to do with “Misty Mountains”. I see the Light is a good one too!!
I’ve never watched GOT before either. Or read the books. I love the music too though!!

December 12, 2022 at 9:11 pm #124267If you really like Tolkien songs I would highly recommend clamavi de Profundis as that’s basically all they make
Also Dragon Age: Inquisition (it is a video game (and I have also never played it) has some good music with words (I have not listened to the entire soundtrack but Enchanter and Fall of the Magister are some fun songs)
Toss a coin to your witcher from the witcher tv show is pretty good as well (it will get stuck in your head) (I have also not watched this show) however there are a few other songs on the witcher soundtrack that are questionable/not clean so…
December 12, 2022 at 11:31 pm #124278Oh also I would recommend checking out Weird Al Yankovic he basically just makes parodies of stuff but especially I would check out his white and nerdy song if you consider yourself a nerdy person you will most likely get a kick out of it
December 13, 2022 at 12:49 pm #124284@folith-feolin My dad loves the Game of Thrones music…..
@lightoverdarkness6 Yeah, he’s one of my favorites! He has such a detailed character arc, that ties in a lot with the legends and mythology of the fantasy world my brother and I created.Funny story, I couldn’t figure out the character’s name for the longest time. Then, while searching a naming website, I came across the name “Jareth,” which apparently means “descendant” or “next in line” and I loved it. The problem was, I wasn’t sure if my brother would, so I kept it in a list of names I liked and would just always use that name in my head. When my brother asked for the name for the character, I finally asked if he liked that name and he did, so we kept it!
