Hello, everyone, I am Ella! I go to a classical Christian school, play basketball, and I love writing. So. Much. 😍 I write a lot of suspense/thriller OR adventure/fantasy depending on what I feel like. 😊 My WIP is still in the earliest of prepping stages, so I’m not sure if I can write a synopsis yet. 😉 I CAN tell you that it is a thriller/suspense. 😊
I’m also on the Story Embers forum, so shoutout to the people on there, too! 😃

@nova21 Hi, Ella, and welcome to Kingdom Pen! I’m not an official member of the welcoming committee (yet), but I do want to recommend to you the cafe (they have some amazing cookies, by the way; the chocolate chip are my favorite) and the indoor swimming pool. Actually, I’m not entirely sure they’ve finished installing that yet…some problem with the heating system, I believe it was.
I’ll go ahead and answer your questions before I bombard you with my own. 😆
I’ve been on KP for about two and a half weeks, so I’m a newbie too!
I’m a–to be brief–historical romance novelist, but I dabble in contemporary, fantasy, and mystery. I’ve written several books already, and my WIP (which hates me at the moment, so don’t be surprised if I don’t speak of it in fond terms either) is the third novel in the series.
Now… *steeples fingers beneath chin, eyeing the girl carefully* …for the interrogation.
#1 How long have you been writing?
#2 What inspired you to begin writing?
#3 What are your favorite books/authors? (BTW, these people are obsessed with Lord of the Rings, so, if you haven’t read it, don’t. say. anything. I haven’t, so I’m still here, even though I’m not sure what they’d do to someone who hasn’t read it, since everyone has. Not that I haven’t read LotR–but you didn’t hear it from me. 😆)
#4 Do you prefer tea or coffee? And, yes, that’s important. Considering the coffee here is much better than the tea, which would only be because they haven’t assigned the tea-brewing to me yet.
#5 Are you a Marvel or DC girl? If ’tis the former, then what do you think of Cap’s beard? If ’tis the latter, do you prefer Batman or Superman? Or…are you something else entirely? We have a couple of Star Wars enthusiasts here (a couple meaning 600 people out of the 661 members) and one of us (not pointing fingers) happens to have a fondness for Gone with the Wind.
#6 Is there anything else important that we should know about you? For example, do you have a time machine on you? (Mine got lost somewhere in between 1941 and 33 AD, so I’m available if you’re looking to sell. I’ve got–what was it?–about two pennies I can rub together.) Do you moonlight as a spy? Are you distantly related to the president? (I think we have someone who is, and I’m seriously going to see if they’ll invite me for Thanksgiving.) Oh, and can you fly? I’ve always dreamed I could, but it turns out that half-mermaid, half-Scottish girls just…can’t.
Anyway…welcome, again, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Or make suggestions. Or force things down people’s throats. The KeePers are very accepting…and forgiving. Except for that one guy who’s still recovering from that one thing… Yeah, otherwise, they–we are pretty great! 😊

My favourite genres are historical and fantasy, though I read almost every genre. I’ve been on KP longer than I care to remember and my current WIP is a dystopian novel heavily inspired by Australia in the 1930s.

Favorite genres to write: Fantasy, definitely. But I also have a series of sci-fi books that I enjoy writing, and I’ve dabbled in a little bit of everything, lol.
What’s your WIP?: Ooh, I’m glad you asked. (I’ll… try to stick to the synopsis and not go rambling about how much I love it. XD)
Dragon ink allows writers to set history in stone—or to change it.
Duyên Lai’s dreams are realized when she’s admitted into the ranks of the calligraphers, authors considered trustworthy enough to defend time from those who would change it. She’s thrilled at the opportunity to record her country’s history, and to work with the other calligraphers in her village.
But when Duyên’s guild is set upon by ancient dragons demanding a time-changer be destroyed, her world is flipped upside down. Her guildmates turn on each other, suspicion coloring their every move. To make matters worse, she’s begun hearing the dragons in her head and finds them impossible to block out: a condition that rendered her grandmother insane.
With the calligraphy guild in turmoil and Duyên’s ever-present fear of madness clouding her vision, will the group be able to discover which of their guildmates has altered time before the dragons pass judgement on them all?
How long have you been on Kingdom Pen?: I started following the blog not long before it went on hiatus, but I was never able to join the forum for some reason. When it started back up I followed the blog and joined the forums as soon as I could. So… however long it’s been back, lol. (Although, to be honest, I’m not the greatest at forum participation anywhere. :P)

Hi Ella! It’s marvelous to have you here! I’m Kathleen and I’m also on the KP team! (@seekjustice is a great team member btw).
Hmmm… favorite genre… one that I haven’t written in yet? XD I love trying out new things when it comes to writing, and that includes genres. But fantasy will always have a special place in my heart.
My WIP I guess you could call a superhero novel? But it’s not what you think of when somebody says “superhero novel” because it is quite a bit different when it comes to plot, characters, and mood. But it does have humans with powers, so I think superhero would have to be the closest genre.
I’ve known and have been reading articles on KP since it began in 2011, but I’ve only just been active on here since May. KP went on a two year hiatus in 2018, and my sister and I missed it. So at the beginning of the year, we decided to join hands and restart KP. And we’ve been on a crazy, (but awesome), journey since!
It’s cool that you’re a part of the Story Embers forum! I’ve been meaning on joining it at some point, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Oh, and @gracie-j is very right about the KP cafe. The chocolate chip cookies are superb. Especially with a hot Caramel Macchiato and an old book, and also a rainy day and a good friend if you have one.

@kathleenramm How’s that “superhero” book going, by the way? I tried that one time…yeah, not my thing, I’m afraid! I think there is actually a specific genre for that, but I so cannot remember what it’s called. (Maybe I’m thinking paranormal…?)
I’ll have to try that caramel macchiato. I’ve been fiddling with the espresso machine for the last couple days, but all I’ve managed to get out of it looks like dishwater water and smells like old socks. 😥

Well, what I have so far for my WIP is a dude who is trying to track down his sisters, who are in their father’s custody, but he is not a good person.

Yay! Another suspense/thriller and adventure/fantasy writer! That’s exactly what I love to write as well. Do you have a favorite fantasy book?
I’ve heard about Kingdom Pen ever since it began in 2011, and I was mainly just a stalker on the website and forum, and only really got involved after it’s relaunch this year.
My WIP is a superhero novel. But not just any superhero novel. Throw in a bunch of mystery, secrets, betrayal, and borderline-criminals-who-are-pretending-to-be-superheroes, and then you got a little bit closer to what the story is really about. I’m writing it with my sister, Kathleen, and she may or may not have mentioned something about it already. 🙂
What’s you’re favorite subject in school? (Besides writing, of course)
And since you are a Pride and Prejudice fan, I have to ask… What is your favorite Pride and Prejudice screen adaption??
