      @devastate-lasting You’re welcome! (My brain is the exact same way, exactly. Is it possible to be too creative?) I know a lot of people give Wikipedia grief…but it’s my go-to for pretty much everything!

      @kathleenramm
      Thanks! 😊 I’m not into rom-coms either–I’m a straight romance lady–but Lady Samantha just has to exist, so… Yeah, the masquerading-as-a-maid thing is definitely my favorite! I have a hard time holding myself back from writing Lady Sam’s stories!

      Ha. ha. ha. No system, I don’t guess. It is pretty confusing, but I keep each book separate (from the outline to the document to the folder), so all the characters/plot points don’t end up in the same pot. Make sense? A lot of people have commented on me having way too many characters (and I can’t do a “Cast of Characters” in the books, for spoiler reasons), but that has never bothered me. I think I read a lot of books with a lot of characters, so…

      Greek myth retellings? Girl, that sounds so cool!!!

      I can’t write interesting contemporary either (and, believe me, I have tried)! I guess our day and age just lacks…flavor? That being said…I have a few ideas for more aesthetic contemporaries myself, but I can’t get my mind out of the past to write anything modern-day. 😆

        @gracie-j I think a lot of my problem is that I don’t have much of a life. XD So I don’t really have experience to draw from that would make for a compelling story. But I’m aiming to have this book center around mental health and theological disagreements, the former of which I have some experience with and the latter of which I have a lot of experience with, lol. So I think (I hope) I’ll be able to make it work once I have the firsthand college experience to blend in with it. ;P

          @r-m-archer Girl, that is me to a T! A sheltered homeschooler has no basis for writing about high-school drama or cross-country road trips or being a country singer or having a multimillion-dollar business, etc. (not that I’m complaining).

          I really like the sound of your idea!

              @gracie-j and @r-m-archer

              I don’t really do contemporary either (if I understand contemporary right lol) I probably used to, but I just really love fantasy.

              you got your fantasy creatures and people, and magic, and interesting plots and wonderful characters and everything!!

                @gracie-j Yep. Being homeschooled is definitely worth the lack of drama… but that lack of drama sure makes contemporary tricky. XD

                Agreed! Fantasy is my favorite. Building worlds is absolutely fascinating in so many different ways, lol.

                  @r-m-archer No doubt about that!

                  Fantasy is such a fun genre! I only write fantasy rarely, since I’m not very good at it, but I love incorporating fantastical elements into my historical fiction! Also, his-fic has its strong points (I can definitely elaborate), certainly more so than contemporary.

                    @gracie-j good for you for writing historical fiction!! I’m probably not gonna be doing that anytime soon cuz….ummm I don’t care for doing loads of research (depending on the subject. I do enjoy researching about animals and such) and, while I do love certain aspects of past time eras, it’s just hard to write and be accurate (for me)

                    plus, with fantasy you can kinda do what ya want. That’s one of the reasons I like it because, while most ideas are “taken” u can literally incorporate them in millions of different ways and it’s so invigorating!!

                    that and fantasy characters and elements are soooo awesome.

                      @godlyfantasy12 No doubt that fantasy is definitely an amazing genre–I have plans to write some fantasy novels eventually.

                      Now, if you ever do want to write his-fic, I have (1) a long list of resources and (2) and long letter of encouragement for writing historical! It’s actually not half as hard as it sounds! (If it were, there would be less his-fic novels out there, you know!)

                        @Gracie-j

                        true and thx! But for now I think I’m gonna stick to fantasy 😊

                          @gracie-j I disagree that historical fiction has significantly more strengths than contemporary. I think they simply have different strengths. Contemporary is the genre with the most potential to directly relate to a reader’s own experiences. It can also help make sense of current events and current social/political/theological issues in a real-world, current-day context that is then the most similar to what we actually face in our day-to-day lives. It can also breed appreciation for modern-day locations and/or give authors an outlet to share their love for certain places, inspiring readers to travel or learn more about different places.

                          None of which is to say it’s superior to historical fiction, either. I could make an equally significant list for historical fiction, or fantasy, or sci-fi, or any other genre. They all serve important functions and that’s why God has gifted different authors with different skill for all sorts of different genres. ^-^
