Another good one. This will be a hard choice.

April 29, 2016 at 10:14 pm #12214The witch of Blackbird pond. (that s actually a really good book, and what makes it even better, is that there is no witch in it. hahaha)
An old fashioned girl
Hmm…let me go do some more thinking.April 29, 2016 at 11:14 pm #12215I like the Story Girl, by L. M. Montgomery, The Choosing by Rachelle Dekker, Cloak of the Light by Chuck Black, A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, The Robot Wars (They’re kinda young, but a cool and fun to read Christian sci fi series) I could go on … and on … and think of more books … (An Old Fashioned Girl is good:)
Oh, and Ivanhoe is a must for anyone who enjoys medieval stories. Peter and Wendy, Jane Eyre, etc. Some of these are free on Kindle, and some could be found at the library.
I haven’t read Ender’s Game yet, but I’d like to.
April 29, 2016 at 11:31 pm #12216Maybe the Hobbit??? (possibly a bit too long)
Thanks @overcomer, you made me think of more: Any of the Chuck Black books, The Kingdom Series or the Knights of Arrethtrae. They are great books. (I haven’t read Cloak of the Light. I’ve still got to wait a bit before I’m allowed that one. 🙂 ) *One day*April 29, 2016 at 11:54 pm #12218Aww we should totally do LotR because I’m just right now rereading it! Let me think…what about Franken *resists the urge to add a celery at the end* *tries harder* Frankencelery *fails because Veggietales is too strong* Yeah, by Mary Shelley. I suppose that you should be able to guess what I’m talking about. It’s a great book and has excellent internal conflict.
April 30, 2016 at 6:12 am #12219April 30, 2016 at 6:17 am #12220Oh, yes, the Witch of Blackbird Pond. My library has that book and I love it. I may have suggested it.
And I also second the suggestion of Black Beauty. It should be available everywhere. Librivox has it. If you like audio books @kate-flournoy you could do that while gardening.I will only read Christian books and some classics, so some of the options on here would leave be out. 19th century girls literature is alright, though not my favourite anymore

April 30, 2016 at 8:00 am #12223Alright everyone, let’s go ahead and vote. List your top three choices in order of preference to vote. I can’t guarantee that the top one will be picked as there may be issues such as inaccessibility, but I’ll basically go with what’s most popular. While you’re at it, please mention if you’re open to using audio books as that could open our range of possibilities.
Let me list the options:
The Fiddler’s Gun
The Great Gatsby
The Wanderer
Chasing Vermeer
To Kill A Mocking Bird
The Lord Of The Rings (Note: Very Long)
The Count Of Monte Cristo (Note: Even Longer)
Ben-Hur
Animal Farm
The Witch Of Blackbird Pond
Story Girl
The choosing
Cloak Of The Light
A Tale Of Two Cities
Robot Wars
The Hobbit
Frankenstine
Black BeautySo then, my vote: (So hard!)
1 Chasing Vermeer
2 Ben-Hur
3 The HobbitCast your votes everyone!

Aww thanks @anna-brie for the suggestion, but I’m afraid that wouldn’t work. I have a bad hearing disorder that makes it so I can’t wear ear-buds or headphones for extended periods of time. 😀 Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion, though!
I vote Animal Farm. Short, but incredibly well done. Lots to learn there.
April 30, 2016 at 9:43 am #12228Since I read Animal Farm just a little while ago I’m fine with that one, also, I really like Tale of Two Cities. I would vote for The Fiddler’s Gun since there is a lot to learn there with plot, character development, and stylistic writing styles, but its inaccessibility is a major downfall.
Theater kid. Currently depressed because I can't stop listening to sad musicals.

1. Chasing Vermeer
2. Animal Farm
3. Cloak of the LightI’m open to audiobooks.
April 30, 2016 at 11:08 am #12232I would have to vote…
1. Animal Farm
2. The Witch of Blackbird Pond
3. The Hobbit
Yikes…such a hard decision! (By the way, because I didn’t say it before, this is a fabulous idea!) 🙂 😉A dreamer who believes in the impossible...and dragons. (INFJ-T)
April 30, 2016 at 12:12 pm #12233Audio books are fine with me.
Grr, this is hard!
1. A Tale of Two Cities (because it has one of my single most favorite characters in it of all time, and an awesome character arc, and history, and I think every writer should read it!)
2. The Hobbit
3. The Story GirlYou could add War Horse later on. It’s a good one.
April 30, 2016 at 1:18 pm #12235Ooh…this is hard…
I vote:
1. Chasing Vermeer (Yes, I’m choosing my own suggestion 😛 )
2. The Witch of Blackbird Pond
3. Ben Hur -
