Is anybody else planning to write a novel this Summer? Com’on! We could start another club! 🙂
May 27, 2016 at 8:06 am #13255@overcomer Does writing a novella count? I hope to start a new one in a few weeks. A club could be fun. 😉

May 27, 2016 at 8:29 am #13257@overcomer oh, to write a novel in one season! Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s possible for me. 😛 But we’ll see— if I can get the editing of my WIP finished before summer (chancy at best) I could be starting a novella… so we’ll see. 🙂
May 27, 2016 at 9:10 am #13259Uuh … I do plan to start one. It would be a miracle if I got it done this year though. I’m just hoping to get all my rounds of editing done this year, and that’s already looking tight.
What would the club be for?

May 27, 2016 at 3:35 pm #13300A Summer novel club! @daeus , or novella, @kate-flournoy , @hope , as the case may be. I’ll make an exception for those. 🙂
It doesn’t have to be finished by the end of Summer, but my goal is to have written a bare minimum (obviously, I hope to write much more!) 🙂 of 1,000 words going by Go Teen Writers 100 for 100 Challenge guidelines.
The challenge starts June first, and I think it will help me develop discipline without making me miserable either, because, while I’m supposed to keep track of the number of words I write, work on a single project (unless I complete the project, in which case I’ll move on to another) and write every day, I get 1 grace day a week and one grace week in the challenge. That sounds pretty doable to me! 🙂
Y’all are welcome to join the challenge for your projects if you like, or just do whatever you’re comfortable doing. I like challenges of this sort because they help motivate me.
We could start another club to hold each other accountable with and share progress, or just do it on here. 😀

Well…. not so much planning a novel, but I will be joining you on the 100 for 100 challenge… I’m not exactly sure how long I’m hoping for end word count as I don’t have a full story lined out yet, but once I do, I’ll let you know how long I’m hoping for. I’m bad about agreeing to write something then just winging it… let’s see if the next few days can let me get an outline whipped out for once before I start this time. I’m thinking it may end up being just a short-story. But with what I have so far, I’m thinking another Novella about the same length as my NaNoWriMo project was… But who knows, we’ll see where it goes! I realize I’ve been absent for a while, but my other project of the moment would be editing through another draft of said NaNoWriMo project, which isn’t getting anywhere fast, but I’m hoping to start the engines back up on it. Now that I’ve told all of you lovely people I actually have to do it, right?
@daeus @kate-flournoy @hope Good luck to all of you heading out on the quest for your novels/novellas this summer!! *applause*- This reply was modified 8 years, 6 months ago by Hannah.
May 27, 2016 at 4:50 pm #13308Sure, I’ll just have to finish up the plotting and do a little research before I can start.

May 27, 2016 at 5:30 pm #13310I’ll not be doing the 100 for 100 challenge (though I have done that before) because I’m not quite ready to write yet. But once I get my outline figured out, I’m hoping to get the rough draft done in about two weeks. Maybe three…

May 27, 2016 at 7:06 pm #13321Oh boy @overcomer, I don’t think I’d enjoy that… 😛 I try not to set word goals for myself over long periods of time, because the moment I feel like I HAVE to do something I stop enjoying it. I’d probably get more written if I pushed myself, but I want to take it slow (relatively 😉 ) and enjoy the process. I want to savor my relationship to my work as long and deeply as I can, so I generally try to avoid deadlines.
Not something that works out too well in the publishing world, I know. :/ 😛May 27, 2016 at 10:41 pm #13344I know what you mean, @kate-flournoy , I get that way myself sometimes. I’ve found, however, that it helps if the project is fun, the goal within sight, and the challenge fairly easy to accomplish. I also like the “grace days/week” for this challenge, because if I do something every day, even writing, it starts to feel like an evil task. Plus, once I get over that feeling of disagreeable “mustness” and just do it, I get such a sense of relief and accomplishment that, if the task didn’t completely drain my creativity, makes it all worth it. 🙂 Seriously, though, as much as you say you write, I hardly think you need discipline. 😉
That’s cool, @hope . *Suddenly realize I forgot to give you a smiley. Quickly edits a big one in.* 😀
Awesome, @daeus , you do that. More power to you! 🙂
Thanks, @aella . Hope you can join us, but let me know how the editing goes. 🙂
Shall I make another topic for this and tag you guys, or what? Maybe just wait and see first?

May 30, 2016 at 9:48 pm #13546Hey, @hannah-c , do you want to continue our conversation from Writer’s Corner here? I’m worried we might get on the nerves of the more serious-minded writers on that forum topic, but I want to ask your what the age group for your story is … 😉

May 31, 2016 at 3:14 am #13556@Overcomer oops didn’t see this before I answered on tell other topic. Any direct mentions I get go straight to spam for some reason. *shakes head*
My story is probably considered young adult. It follows a girl and her family on the Oregon Trail on their way to WA.

June 1, 2016 at 1:35 pm #13615Oh! And I’m also doing Go Teen Writers 100 for 100! That’s how I got started writing in the first place.

June 1, 2016 at 7:42 pm #13618I would like to get the second draft of Girl of the Rumours done by the end of august. It’s unlikely though. I took about seven and a half months to write the first drat and I’ve got another book in progress now.
But at least I don’t have lovely warm weather to distract me.June 1, 2016 at 10:37 pm #13638That’s cool, @hannah-c . 🙂
The challenge starts today! Which reminds me … I wasn’t sure whether to create a separate club for Summer project stuff, so I did it anyway. Should be fun! 🙂
