@Daeus, he’s making fun of Lord Byron’s “The Destruction of Sennacherib” which is Romantic poetry with the usual touch of the melodramatic, though it sounds nice when you say it aloud, and using that to make fun of overuse of metaphor in general. But he’s drawing on allusions to Hamlet to do it.
