@ethryndal I grant you pardon, so long as you commit no such wrong again 😉 I shall play around with ideas and see how it goes – I have a lot of time for this, which is nice 🙂

March 5, 2017 at 8:37 am #26936An update for those of you interested – I have mostly gotten the short story written. It’s actually a scene from a pre-existing longer book I wrote last year, which I had fixed and edited a bit to make sense as it’s own short story (removing irrelevant plotpoints, reintroducing the characters, things like that) I had asked the opinion of one of my friends, and seeing as this book has not been previously published in any way (just shared with two or three friends) we agreed it would be eligible for this contest.
I’m also looking to enter the Bunyan Fiction Writing contest, with Douglas Bond, which is an international contest for those of you interested 😉 I’ll be doing something similar in taking a scene from an already-written story of mine and tweaking it a little.
I’ll share a google docs link or something for any of you interested in reading the short story 🙂

March 5, 2017 at 1:22 pm #26944@perfectfifths You are so much more ambitious than I… XD Ooh, I want to read it! That’s a pretty interesting idea, converting something you’ve already written into a short story. How does it work, exactly, sharing the link?

March 5, 2017 at 7:08 pm #26966@ethryndal Thanks, I thought it a relief to to it this way, it means I didn’t have to think of a story and write it in 1,500 words or less – I just had to fix up existing one to be 1,500 words or less.
As for sharing, I’m not exactly sure, but @daeus said putting it in Google docs and sharing the link – though I’m not sure about that, because I don’t know emails, so I can’t make it exclusive email access, and I’d actually rather not put a link out on the web – though I supposed I could take it down after a time…
Do you have any suggestions?

March 5, 2017 at 7:24 pm #26968@perfectfifths As for emails, you could have either Sarah Spradlin or me act as a middleman to get it out to everybody.

March 5, 2017 at 7:41 pm #26971@daues Oh, yes, that would work. Thanks.
But I think I’ll do that after I submit it to the contest. I’ll let you all know when I’m ready 🙂

March 5, 2017 at 8:42 pm #26980@daeus I’ve had a couple of people read it, and I’m still interested in your offer of beta reading as well, but as for sharing with every one else, I want to wait, is all. So, if I wanted to send it just to you for now, how would I do that?
