Well, at long last I finished this edit of my book. And I was wondering if anyone wanted to beta read it. ( @daughteroftheking @aislinn-mollisong @seekjustice @perfectfifths @jess-penrose @jane-maree @dragon-snapper @epicaddie2 @his-instrument @emily [Tell your sister if you like…])
The title is Finding Secrets, it is the first book of a trilogy. The name of the trilogy is being debated. Currently, Three and Seven.
The synopsis…You Were Called By The King
Alex is not normal. She and her friends talk to animals.
But in the course of a few days the normal of their abnormal lives is shaken. They all receive a mysterious riddle from a cloaked messenger of a long dead tyrant king.
They must save Allore by finding three jewels. The Ruby. The Sapphire. The Emerald. Then giving them to that king. But someone else wants them too. Another ruler…
As they receive more riddles Alex struggles to find any answers. Answers that may be secrets – Secrets that some people would rather stay hidden. Even some secrets of her own. Wounds from her past. Are her friendships strong enough to survive the secrets of her past? And can she save Allore before it falls into the sea?The genre is Fantasy. Though there is some sci-fi. (Also suspense…)
Tell me if you’d like to beta read it. I think what I’ll do is some of you read it, I’ll edit those things, then have other people read it.

October 21, 2017 at 11:22 pm #49260@catwing oooh!! Amazing news!! Yay!! *dances around, throws feathers and sneezes violently*. I would love to be a beta reader for you. I am notoriously bad at getting the book read and critiqued by the deadline though. When would you like us to have it finished by? I ask because I am planning on doing NaNoWriMo next month and I want to focus on that, and I always take on too much at once and get stressed out by it.

October 22, 2017 at 1:20 am #49344@catwing Yeah, I’m interested, but it depends if you have a specific time you want it done by, or just anytime. 🙂

October 22, 2017 at 8:21 am #49353@catwing Weird. Whenever you tag me I’m not getting and update in email for it. *shrugs* Well, I’m on here often enough that it doesn’t matter… 😛
Anyway….YAYAYAYAY!! That’s amazing! You finished editing!
*cough* That’s me, clapping for you. Cause you know, dragons don’t have hands and all…
However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to beta-read it for you, as much as I might want to. Life is happening. You know the dealio.☀ ☀ ☀ ENFP ☀ ☀ ☀
October 22, 2017 at 11:41 am #49358@catwing I will beta-read it! I love beta reading…even though I’ve never really done it before….

I really want to beta read, because, you know, it’ll give a an excuse to read your book! I’ll double check with my parents, but I think I can do it! DISCLAIMER: I have never beta read anything in my life. So… you’ll kind of need to tell me what to do.

October 22, 2017 at 3:02 pm #49363Yay @catwing! I will happily beta read for you! I’m also curious as to a deadline though, and also whether you want a general read that we’ll point out plot holes, etc, or if you want one that discusses more about whether the characters work, or one that is down to grammar and formatting. Also, are you planning on doing it via google doc? Anyways, I’d love to help! November is a biiiiiiiiiit chaotic for me with both NaaNoWriMo and a wedding, but I’ll be able to fit it in I think. *thumbs up*

Inspiration<October 22, 2017 at 5:40 pm #49369@Catwing I would love to help out, (here comes the ‘but’) but I’m about to be participating in NaNoWriMo in November so I won’t have time to do anything during that month (because I also have another manuscript that I still have 100k left to edit/critique). HOWEVER, depending on your deadline and the length of your novel I might be able to fit it in. (Might.)
Thanks for asking! 😀Writing Heroes ♦ Writing Hope // janemareeauthor.com.au
October 22, 2017 at 8:33 pm #49378First off, it is 52,789 words.
@dragon-snapper *laughs* You could consider your front feet for clapping? I understand. “My life is busy, but I still take time to ride my dragon.” (That should go on the inspiration board!)@beta-readers I don’t know a good dead line… How about as soon as you can? 😛 Early-ish November?
Beta-reading (at least my way. :P) is you read it and comment on things like, plot holes, mistakes, errors, or really any problems etc. that you see (if you see grammar or spelling issues please comment too!). Basically you help me find problems that I overlooked.
It is in a Google doc. I’m thinking about having some of you read it, I edit, then the other people can read it.
Okay so I can do the non-busy-ish people first, and the busy people can wait until after November.
Meaning
@daughteroftheking @aislinn-mollisong @perfectfifths (You are too busy? Are you)
Will read it now and,
@seekjustice @jess-penrose @jane-maree
Do NaNoWriMo and read it after November.I will post the link on my page (is that what you call it?) for the first group of people. Once this is decided… So the sooner you want to read it, the sooner you reply. 😉

October 22, 2017 at 9:03 pm #49385@catwing That sounds good. I plan on doing NaNo as well, but 59,000 words doesn’t sound like it’d take too long. *thinking, thinking…*
You know what, to be on the safe side, put me in with the second group for after November. 🙂 Our school holidays start mid-December and finish late in January, so that would give me plenty of time. 🙂

October 22, 2017 at 9:08 pm #49387@perfectfifths Got it. And it’s actually around 52,000, not 59,000.
If someone wants to be in the first group (instead of her, so that it’s even.) tell me.
IMMA KAPEEFER! Til we're old and gray!
October 23, 2017 at 12:34 am #49418@catwing okay, so that’s pretty short *breathes out in relief* like @perfectfifths said, I have holidays for half of dec and all of Jan and I’m hoping to get my editing done then, and I should have plenty of time for your novel. I’m currently beta reading another novel, which i’m already past the deadline for, so I don’t think I will have enough time before nov…

October 23, 2017 at 4:33 am #49423Hmmm, a 52k doc? *thinks* I reckon you can toss me in the early group if you need someone. There are 8 days left of October, and I can write 50 in 20 or so days easily. However, the sooner I can start the beta-ing process the better. And yay! I like that style of beta-ing!!! *fingerguns* Looking forward to it @catwing!

October 23, 2017 at 5:33 pm #49560@Catwing that’s super! Just poke me after NaNo/whenever you need me to go over it and I’ll be happy to. (poke me because otherwise I’m 99% likely to completely forget xD)
