@ellette-giselle that’s…..exactly what I have an issue with. They’re all so good!!
I’d say if you have repeats, two that are supposed to depict the same scene, pick your favorite and leave the other one.

January 29, 2025 at 10:46 am #196346I’m not sure what you mean by outline. I do young sketches, see if I like the drawing, and then move from there.
Basically a simple form of the drawing I use to decide where things will all go and to help me get the proportions right. It’s useful because if I make a mistake here, for example, make the arms to long, or draw the head pointed in a direction I later decide I don’t like, I can erase it. (I will caution you when looking this up. Some people can go too far with their outlines for humans. I just learned how to do this with animals, then translated it to humans.)
I also have a wooden manikin thing from IKEA that I can use as a reference for creating these outlines as well.
Here is an example from a sketch I am currently working on:
I do. I don’t know why, they’re just fun pictures to draw. As you can see, I have a few options on keepers. In fact, I think I had two versions for Joseph and Amelia. Of the two, which would you go with?
Think I prefer option 1.
sooooo…. is that good or not? Does it fit [Beric]?
I guess so. It does make him look older. I think if you could get it to look like he is looking directly at you, it would be perfect.
UGH! I KNOW! I can’t figure out how to fix it. Guys are easier to make look older. I don’t know how to fix a girl.
If it makes you feel any better, I struggle with drawing the correct age as well. I’ve been told by my sister that Alan looks like he is forty in some of my sketches of him.
This is just what I have so far. I have 30+ rough sketches of other scenes, I just didn’t do them yet because I decided it was a hugging day. I’ll maybe work on them later.
Ah, okay. Will you share some of these as well?

January 29, 2025 at 10:50 am #196350@linus-smallprint I have a tiny one of those. You’re right, they’re good for basic poses, but mine at least is nowhere near the amount of flexibility for the poses I have my characters in much of the time.

January 29, 2025 at 11:03 am #196355See, I never liked using those manikins. I have one, but for some reason I don’t like them. *shrug*

Ah. No, I don’t tend to do that.
I can send a few sketches I started last night. Some are finished while some are still in the outline stage.

Okay. It did take some time to get used to, but it has helped me improve my drawing a bit.

January 29, 2025 at 11:16 am #196363Here’s one I started of Joseph and Amelia when Amelia is sick.

January 29, 2025 at 11:18 am #196364Most likely this is Joseph and Eric….

January 29, 2025 at 11:27 am #196369This is Joseph having nightmares.
(I literally just started it, so I haven’t finished with his shirt and shorts yet, that’s why there are no sleeves and there are double lines on the legs.)
I may remove the pillow behind his head, or maybe replace the one he’s holding with his blanket. Not sure yet. Mostly just gauging the look of the thing.

I love how this one is turning out, but I also love the other one….. so I’m not sure what to do.

January 29, 2025 at 11:32 am #196371This one is almost finished. I need to work on the dirt, (for the moment the shape is shaded but that’s about it) background, and a bit more detail in her face.
