        Skyraptor

“Say, how’d you come here?” Evander asked.

Skyraptor shrugged. “I have no idea…..I fell asleep on my master’s ship and woke up here.”

        “Master?” Gus asked.

“A human. He adopted me before I even hatched out of my egg.” she explained. “He and I have a special connection…but I can’t sense him at all right now. He must be too far away….maybe even on another planet entirely.”

          Gus

Gus smiled a little at that. “I’m sorry for doubtin’ you, little ‘un, but planets are the sorts of pretty stuff you hear about in schoolhouses or at Sunday school.”

Wow. It’s been a bit since anyone last posted on here.

            The twins.

The island was silent but for the crashing waves and the distant music of wind in trees. Zlatan blinked up at the crescent moon, pale in the star cast sky.

“The lady smiles tonight.” Vulka’s voice was low. His brother rumbled in agreement. A soft murmur of some fluttering night bird drifted overhead. It settled and, a moment later, broke into song.

“We should probably build a fire.”

“No.” Zlatan paused and glanced at the gathering shadows. “Would be to easily seen.”

Vulkasin sighed and flopped into the grass. “Besides, I could roast in this heat.”

Zlatan raised a brow, eyes smirking. “You poor creature, encountering a world without snow and ice. You get used to it–after you loose half a coat or so.”

            “Great.”

              Let’s see….

              Trippin

Silence reigned over the shore. The waves boke with muted care upon the rocks, and the wind watched them flee away listlessly. Even the birds in the trees on the bluff above only dared to whisper. But then again, the best gossip is shared under one’s breath.

The best gossip, like a new addition of matchwood to the landscape.

Finally overcome with curiosity, more robust brown robin quietly began sending leaves down to inspect an new heap of wreckage. One green leaf tiptoed down to tickle a tiny mound of grey fur. The mound stirred, sneezed, and sat up.

              “That was,”cough, “awful.”

The voice was rough and gritty, but it split the silence.  Instantly, the air filled with giggles.

“Would they just be quiet?” A second mound, rather smaller and darker than the first, hissed from underneath a green cloak.

              More titters.

Tripkin, as you may have guessed the first mound to be, flopped back into the shade a a splintered helm. His mouth and fur were filled with sand. Everything tasted like salt. He pulled his tail over his head in misery.

A moment passed. He was dreadfully tired. And thirsty.

“Hey, Speckles.” A stick poked him. “Ie don’t want to move either, but we should look for water.”

              “I’m done with water.”

“You don’t want something to drink?”

Tripkin uncurled to find his friend crouched on a beam above him. Half Dalton’s fur was plastered to the right and coated in a fine layer of dust. He looked more like a patchwork quilt than a squirrel.

              “You look funny.”

“So do you.” The black squirrel’s ears twitched impatiently. “Come on, you’ll get sick if you stay here much longer without water.”

Slowly and stiffly, Tripkin crawled out of the wreckage. The two stood blinking around for a moment, before a few sniffs in the right direction lead them away under the trees.

The birds sent the word ahead of them, free of charge.

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan
