Ok sounds, good.
Heres a question,
cuz’ I’m new to RPing…heh heh: Do we wait for everyone to get on, or continue? I don’t mind waiting, its just seeming dead…Flaz: *yawns* Did the sun just come up? In the west?
September 4, 2023 at 4:07 pm #155565@grcr just continue–it’ll stay dead if we wait lol
I’m not going to be on after this until tomorrow, but I will keep going. I haven’t had the chance to use Skyraptor much lately.
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

He opened one eye. He hadn’t slept for five minutes.
I’m… I’m burning up…
He stood up and shook the sand off his large body.
I’ll go lay in the shade, and continue resting…
The island’s unfamiliar sounds startled him as he made his way towards the shade. He looked around to make sure he was safe.
When he was comfortably laying on his stomach, he let out a soft roar—his equivalent to purring, since he couldn’t purr even if he wanted too— and closed his eyes.
Despite how fond of sleeping he was, rest did not come to him.
Oh…how miserable… I need my sleep.
The only thing I need more than sleep right now is a bite.
Thats it!
…I’m hungry…
He stretched and quickly glanced around, scanning his current surroundings for something to eat.
Unsuccessful in his brief search, he stood up and decided he’d look for some sign of life beyond himself.

September 4, 2023 at 5:51 pm #155574Hey guys!
So Godly, if you see this, I’m going to assume that Nyx couldn’t handle the waves and is unconscious from, well, either suggestion Gus makes here 😊
Gus
Despite his fierceness, the little fox seemed to have taken quite a beating. After a few seconds struggling to balance on his legs, whether from falling against the shore with too much force or from pure exhaustion, the creature’s eyes drooped against his own will, and he crumpled onto the sand.
Gus sighed.
He and this fox were in the same fix.
Which meant even though they were complete strangers, the cloven code compulsed him to preserve both their lives.
The wooly youngling scooped up the fox again, and cuddled him against his chest for warmth.
He then pulled back his jacket, and revealed a leather satchel underneath.
The search for food could barely even be called rummaging. There was a soggy lump of bread, spoiled by the salt, flint and steel, linen strips, a tiny flask of water which tasted of gunpowder, a scratched-up harmonica, and two cans – one filled with flour, the other, beans.
How it had all remained tied up in cloth in the midst of the waves, no one would ever know. His musket and bandolier, though, were lost.
“This will do for hard tack,” Gus murmured, satisfied, holding up the first can to sparkle in the sun.
The fox let out a faint mewl in his sleep, but did not waken.
Gus grinned, and wiped his nose again, this time streaking his hand with blood. His nose had a scratch over the smoky-black fuzz.
The taste of blood awakened his senses, and his pupils shrank as he snuffled the air.

#ProtectSebSeptember 6, 2023 at 5:12 pm #155694It’s okay!! Hard to keep track sometimes, yeah? Here, he’s set up a fire and Nyx can wake up 😊
Gus
Within roughly thirty minutes, red-hot embers were flickering in the air like the souls of fireflies. A small wood pile crackled as Gus sat on a log, staring up at the sky, where he knew there would be an abundance of beautiful stars that night.
On the other side of the fire, the fox lay on his side on Gus’ jacket.
This fire might bring rescuers. But if not, they needed shelter from… well, wild animals. And soon. Scouting out the forest would be greatly beneficial. Maybe they could find a hollowed log, or a small cave to cover with branches, and set up camp.
If this fox wasn’t going to scramble away the moment he woke up. After all, he might not be intelligent – and in that case, Gus was alone. But being alone was easy.
No responsibilities. No hiding from risks. No voices.
In fact, Gus could live in comfort this way, if times were peaceful.
He chewed and spat out a piece of tree bark, one gold tooth glinting, and began to sing a song of vowels and husky warmth, as the runes on his horns writhed with light.
The fox stirred.

September 6, 2023 at 5:32 pm #155695@whalekeeper ok, Gus just thinking Nyx might not be intelligent made me chortle XD
Nyx
Nyx’s body shuddered. His eyes flicked open. Once. Twice.
He scrunched his whiskers, a small, petite sneeze escaping as water flushed through his system. He growled at himself for the sound, disliking the vulnerability of it.
His ears twitched, abdomen heaving with each breath.
Breath…
He was breathing…
Huh…so he hadn’t drowned…
That was a plus.
Unless this was the afterlife. But, he imagined he wouldn’t still be chilled to the bone from the sea if it were.
Then again…he’d never been dead before, so, he could be wrong about that. Perhaps you remained in the state you passed for all eternity.
Wouldn’t that be something!
If that were the case, Nyx would’ve much rather gone out in a blaze of glory than suffocated by the sea.
How embarrassing…could you imagine, passing around stories to others about your demise, only to be able to say “Oh yea, I choked on water.”
Psh…
“Ah…you’re awake. I’m glad. Didn’t know if you’d make it for a moment there…”
Nyx’s hackles rose, still slightly wet from before, but a small heat warmed them. Eyes now adjusted, Nyx noticed the flames licking the air nearby, and the figure sitting not so far away.
He couldn’t quite make out all of his features-things we’re still a bit blurry, but his scent was all over him.
It seemed to come from whatever fabric the kit currently laid in.
How had he not picked up on that before?
The sea must’ve washed away his senses momentarily.
Or perhaps it was the brush with death…
Either way, Nyx was on full alert now, or…mostly, still feeling rather exhausted from his battle with Mother Nature.
He hissed, eyes narrowing and fangs bared.
“Easy, I don’t mean any harm!”
Nyx glared at the figure, slowly taking in his features. He was some sort of…goat-like creature…his hair was rather fluffy, and his feet resembled hooves.
Not that any of this really concerned Nyx. Wasn’t by any means the strangest things he’d seen in his life.
“Yea right…” Nyx muttered.
“I promise you, I’m telling the truth,” The figure said.
Nyx twitched. Had he heard him? That…wasn’t supposed to happen.

XD I’m sorry, I had to.
Gus
Gus stood up and slowly veered around the fire, white eyelashes fluttering as he tried to blink away the runes pressing against his cheeks. “Why are you so small? I’ve never seen such a tiny junebug in all my life before.”
Most Horns stood on their back legs, and had human-like faces and proportions. But then again, this fox did not have horns.
The fox stood up, fur fluffed out as if trying to look bigger, and laced back his ears. “I’ve got a big personality, thank you very much.”
But he trembled from the cold, ear tip to toes.
Gus’ southern accent always slipped out when he was trying to comfort someone, like his harmonica wailing softly. “Ease up, buddy. You’ll catch your death of hypothermia, and that ain’t healthy for a tiny babe such as yourself.”
“Everything is a mountain”
September 6, 2023 at 10:16 pm #155710@whalekeeper oh lawd…Gus and Nyx are already gonna get off to a rocky start XD
Nyx
Nyx’s nose twitched in agitation, claws clenching against the coat under him. He growled low. Babe?!
“I will have you know…I have seen and been through things that would turn even the toughest of men to jelly! I am not a babe, and I am not tiny.”
His tails flicked through the air, droplets of water spraying from them. He stood in position to pounce, claws out and fangs bared as if to prove his point, only for an extremely, annoyingly, adorable sneeze to leave his snout.
Heat rushed through his fur, and not from the fire. He hissed at himself, snapping backwards, as if some invisible force had made his body turn against him.
Pouting, he glared at the young figure-he did seem young…only a boy really…psh, he was probably even younger than Nyx-and turn around a few times in the same spot, kneading at the boy’s coat.
He made special effort to muss it. Then, he laid down, still eyeing the lad warily.
So…apparently he can hear me…which…I guess isn’t the worse thing considering he’s the only one here…
Though I would’ve preferred the stupid sea not knock my senses all over the place…
His head was still feeling a bit fuzzy.
“So…got a name?”

Gus snickered softly when the fox exploded over being perceived as a babe. He played with the hem of his overalls, but purposefully said nothing back. After all, the fox was a babe, if only emotionally.
All new recruits were babes. And they had to get used to it real quick, without any smart mouth.
The fox scuffed up the jacket, and grumpily snuggled back down. “So… got a name?”
“General Gus, of the highest, with honorable decorations bestowed, Troop Eighth-Three.”
The fox wrinkled his nose.
“You may call me Gus, if you like.”
“I’m Nyx. Why are you here with me? What do you want?” Nyx asked suspiciously.
Those were good questions. Both without answers.
So Gus decided go compensate by pulling out the can of beans, and coming to squat next to his crumpled up jacket. “Are you hungry yet?”

Nyx let out a deep growl as the sheep-boy walked towards him, carrying what seemed to be a harmless can of…food perhaps? But one could never be too sure…
He arched his back, scuttling away a bit as the boy sat beside him and began to open the can; the smells from it proving it to indeed be some sort of food, though whatever it was, Nyx didn’t want any of it.
The kit scrunched his nose.
“Are you hungry yet?”
“Not for whatever you’re about to cook up,” he scowled, nose high in the air as he sat back down. He quickly turned back on the boy with a pointed look, one paw lifted. “You didn’t answer my question.”
“The first question, I don’t really have an answer to. At least, not one I have time to try and explain.” Nyx’s maw scrunched up at this.
He hated secrets.
They were just lies in disguise…
“And the second…” Gus paused from his… “cooking,” if it could be called that, and tilted his head. “You seemed to be in trouble.”
Nyx huffed, fur puffing out. “I was perfectly fine, thank you.”
A lie. Of course.
But it was perfectly alright if he lied. He had to save face after all! People just weren’t ever supposed to lie to him.
It-It was principle!
Nyx’s head lowered into his fur, soaking up the warmth as his fur began to dry against the warmth of the nearby embers. His eyes tucked across the nearby landscapes, trying to make sense of where he was.
His ears pricked, tails twitching.
Gus stirred the beans and then glanced his way. “You sure you don’t want any?”
Nyx looked at the gooey pebbles Gus called ‘food,’ brow raising. “Yea…pretty positive.”
Truthfully, though, his stomach was rolling.
But…some of that wasn’t just hunger…
He eyes the sheep-boy for a moment before looking back off into the distance again.
He didn’t really know anything about this boy…or where he was…
Worse yet, though…
He had no idea where Jocelyn was…
Surely…
She knew he was gone right? She’d noticed him missing…? Noticed that he’d fallen into the sea?
His ears drooped for a moment.
Was she…even looking for him?
The kit shook his head, hating himself for even thinking those thoughts. Of course Lynnie was looking for him. She’d never leave him, or abandon him.
Ever.

#ProtectSebSeptember 7, 2023 at 1:19 am #155718@whalekeeper it is kinda funny tho, because technically Nyx is older then Gus, but Gus is so much more mature, due to everything they’ve been through.
Then again, Nyx has been through a lot of trauma is his life as well, but instead of maturing him, it did…kinda the opposite? It made him a bit more prone to be that “Troublesome Kid” type and then when he got with Lynnie, who was basically gaslit to only see things from a childlike perspective, and live life as a child Forever…

Nyx glanced around, before his ears wilted, nose tucked and sniffling quietly.
His spirits had caught cold as well.
Gus stuck his nose into the can.
The beans were mostly flavorless, but they were soft, solid, and sat nicely in the stomach.
After eating the lesser half, Gus licked his face and nose until his fur was clean and wet – the bit of blood added some salt, if nothing else – and set the can down on the jacket.
He pulled at the jacket sleeve – with only a mild growl from Nyx – causing it to slide closer to the fire.
“You don’t strike me as lookin’ like a baby bird,” Gus said. “So don’t be, and eat what’s been provided for you.”
“I told you, I’m not hungry.”
Nyx snuggled down further, eyes gleaming yellow from the firelight.
Gus watched him for a moment, then spoke gently.
“I don’t want to feed you as an invalid come mornin’. Nor do I want to hunt for food all alone neither. But you’re fixin’ to put me in such a state, Nyx, with all your curlin’ up like a dead spider. So eat your food and like it, too.”
The fox obviously didn’t enjoy the lecture. But after it, he stuck a hesitant paw in the food, with a look of absolute disgust.
Gus nodded, then stared out at the dark forest.
He stood up, and walked closer.
It was mere feet away from them, but the darkness of it led him to construe his senses in such a way that his human thoughts fell, dead upon the sand.
He was used to prairieland. Not this.
His breath fluttered, and his hooves tripped with nerves, as he wrapped his arms up and around his horns. Trying to find a sense of balance.
These was too similar to the battle jitters. And he hadn’t had them since he was made lieutenant.
He couldn’t let the new experience send him back to primitive ways.
“You look like you’re dancing,” Nyx sneered from behind, whiskers wet from licking.
Too late.
It felt good to act like a simple recruit again. Savage, yet still tied to a mother, and thus always pulling away on those threads, never knowing whether you were a native or a true colonist. Only to find out it didn’t matter.
The lamb boy shook himself, and trotted around at random, closer to the fire. He hummed until his horns glowed again, and gave a small cry.
It was a cry of allegiance. But to anyone else, it only sounded like a glorified whimper.
“Everything is a mountain”
September 7, 2023 at 9:15 am #155720How old is Nyx? Gus is around twelve to thirteen. He’s small for a human, but strongly built for one of his kind, so his appearance can be confusing to both sides.
Yep lol.
I guess for Nyx it was the isolation, in Cirque.
Whereas for Goosie, it was immediate shock, but then a slow training up to complete acceptance.
