How is the Great KP Search going? Any results?
I’m feeling like we are running out of time. The website has been even more buggy than usual in the past week, making it hard to post anything on here. I may return to planning for a new website.
Sometimes it is necessary to paint the sky black in order to see the stars.
@linus-smallprint yeah it’s becoming SUPER buggy. I’m a bit worried now cause it means we might lose….a LOT of stuff.

You could probably do that at this point. ? I can’t believe how buggy the forum has been. I messaged Reagan Ramm and the message went through, so I’ve been waiting these last few weeks for a reply. Two days ago, I messaged DeGraaf. There’s a good chance he’ll reply because I’ve had short communication with him before about YWW.
Yeah… @keilah-h I’m thinking about copypasting some of the important roleplays into a document. School RP has been saved already but Castle RP has not been saved.

@whalekeeper yeah it is the buggiest I’ve ever seen. The weird formatting has persisted for days, and when I tried to sign in on my tablet it went back to normal formatting for like 1 second and then suddenly got stuck endlessly reloading somehow.
Good idea to save the roleplays! Currently none of the ones I’m in are active but I like reading through them every once in a while.

I don’t remember who had the idea first, me or Loops. Probably Loops. ? She pasted most of School RP and I helped with the formatting although I can’t remember if I finished that.
Castle RP is most important in a KP history sense, but there are a lot of other great ones. I really want the Fantasy Adventure one to start again. Character Party was soooo popular but I have no idea what happened in it or who was in it.

It has been really buggy lately… I could barely sign in the last few days.
Linus, do you still think creating a website is the best option, considering other applications like Slack and Discord? (I’m sorry, I can’t remember what we decided about that.)

Discord and Slack are other possibilities. However, creating a website would allow me to add more order than a Discord server would allow. We have a lot of different topics on here, and the server would get pretty crowded. Although I suppose if we wanted, we could create separate servers for smaller groups in addition to a general server (Role Play Server, Give me feedback on my book server, Fans of this and that servers, ect.)
The other thing a website would allow me to do is create some features tailored to writers. It probably wouldn’t have these features at the beginning, but I could add them over time. For example, I could make it so that you have a profile page that neatly organizes all your projects, making it easy for others to find what you are up to. Also, I believe we have writers who would like a website blog to publish some of their work on (short stories, essays on writing, ect.), like Kingdom Pen used to. A web messaging app would not allow that.
Also, the question is if people actually want to join Discord or Slack. There may be some writers on here who think it is best to avoid these websites. (or have parents who do). Some users may not trust these websites.
I created a list of all the pros and cons for both options:
Messaging app server
Pros:
- Easy to set up
- Free
- Proven to work
Cons:
- Can crowd up the server/messaging app with different forums
- Limited to what is in the app
- Nothing to share with the public
- Less secure?
New Website
Pros:
- More order
- Custom Features for writing
- Public Blog
- Easier to find for new members
- More secure?
Cons:
- Costs money
- Takes time to build
- Possibly buggy
- Limited people available to work on it
So, what do you think?

Yeah, I’ve said this repeatedly but I’d rather stay far away from Discord, for more than a few reasons. I’ve heard Slack is ok but it’d be terrible for roleplays due to how it’s structured.

One more reason in favour of a Messaging App, if those of us who are in charge get too busy, it is easier to pass down, and the whole thing won’t start to fall apart.
Another messaging app we could use: Signal. Since COVID-19, this has been the trusted messaging app in my church due to being secure and encrypted. However, it does have even less order than Discord or Slack since you can only create group messages and not servers.

Where Discord is more aimed at games as a place to hang out, it apprease Slack is more business-oriented. I am not sure what your reasons for avoiding Discord would be, but I feel we should be less likely to encounter them in Slack.
