Oh, definitely. I was just curious about the rights of Canada’s government compared to ours. They seem to be very close.

The story is looking really good so far, although I’m a little confused by Cole. Is he meant to be really smart, but doesn’t necessarily care about school? Sorry, I just need a little clarification. Each character is good though, I particularly find Alec interesting.

You nailed it! Is that enough description, or do you want me to try to elaborate? 😜 And don’t worry, you’re good.

Awesome, thank you! Yeah, Alec is one of my favorites. 🥰

By the way, are you planning to post a new chapter of your WIP soon? I’m looking forward to it. 😉

Thanks, and I think it’s fine because you don’t have to explicitly state it. Is there a reason why, or are you getting to that?

Awesome, thank you! Yeah, Alec is one of my favorites. 🥰

Your welcome. Is he going to have another POV (please say yes)?

Thank you! I was thinking about that today and forgot, but I’ll probably post the next tomorrow.

Okay, good. Eh, it’s just part of his personality to me. He’s great at Warrain and leading the team, because he applies himself, and as a result doesn’t really focus on school. 😆 His skills with computers and coding will be more prominent later.

Yep! Though Sara and Cole will still carry most of the story. I believe Alec’s next chapter will be around 21-23.

              Ooh, okay!

Hey, that kind of stuff even happens here in America.

I took a class out of the home with several home school kids. It was a Constitutional class, and at one point we were debating real court cases or arguing pro or con real things.

Well, I was put on a team with three of the guys, (that class was heavily outnumbered when it came to guys over girls. The whole football team was there!) anyhow, we were given a problem and told we had five minutes to argue for it. Then a team would be chosen as winner based on how well they argued and orated their thoughts and backed the argument, etc.

Well, our problem was this: There is a famous medical school here that is considering giving free scholarships to all black students and graduating them with honors if they get anything above a 40% average, to pay for the years of injustice when their race was held as slaves and unable to go to school. (COME ON!) The teacher smiled at us and said, “This case should be easy for your team as the right choice is very obvious.”

We agreed. It didn’t take us very long to decide that, “Nope!” that is a bad idea. We chose one of the guys as our speaker, outlined a few key points, and our team returned to the room.

Our turn came, and he got up and opened with a really good catch, drawing the listeners in. (This friend has now ended up in seminary and I am not at all surprised. Not only does he have a passion for the Lord, but he’s an amazing speaker!) Anyhow, he laid out a few of our points. First. The black collage students of today are not directly affected by the results of slavery when it comes to their ability to learn. If a student came and they were a slave and missed years of schooling, or even if their parents were slaves and unable to teach them, then a scholarship could be considered. BUT, that student would have to EARN that by having good grades before he graduated that school. Second. Don’t graduate our MEDICAL STUDENTS with horrible grades. That’s just unwise. And third. If we keep giving black people all these things to pay for wrongs done years and years ago, then it’s not going to be long before white people are the ones on the bottom of the scale, and then in however many years it takes, we’re going to have to push blacks down and bring whites up to pay for all the wrongs done to them, and back and forth like a seesaw! Last point. If we need to give retribution to wrongs done to other ethnic groups: what about the Irish? or the Italians?

Well, anyhow, with five minutes he was on a roll to giving a good and powerful speech. I can tell you the room was dead silent. He has everyone hooked. And then the teacher stood up and clocked him at 1 minute and 58 seconds! And said, “Alright young man, please take a seat.”

My friend just looked at him a moment, and it was clear he was working really hard not to say anything. Then he turned and took a seat.

One of the captains of the other teams jumped up and said, “Wait a moment sir, you only gave him 1 minute and 58 seconds.”

The teacher turned around and said, “I suggest you take a seat or your team will be disqualified for unruly conduct.”

Well, needless to say, our view of the right answer and his view of the right answer did not line up. We were ranked lowest, and my friend was disqualified from further speaking for disrespect and discrimination. (When really he was arguing AGAINST discrimination)

Anyways, the rest of the teams were sympathetic, and a few of the boys from our home school football team wanted to organize a peaceful protest. (we’d been going through the first five Amendments the other day, so they would have been applying what they had learned. 😂) We decided against it because it would only cause more trouble.

Anyhow, I thought I’d share 1. so that Linus knows Canada isn’t alone when it comes to biased classes, and 2. to give Hybrid an interesting story that could even possibly be pulled into a situation in her book!

Wow, that’s messed up. At least you all had the support of your class.

That’s insane, but yeah, at least the class all knew it was wrong. Thanks for the inspiration!

You’re welcome! I’d love to see Everette in a bind like that, and maybe someone surprising like Cole (could be a really cool moment) is like, “hold on a sec, he got less time then the rest of us,” or something like that.

Just a thought. It could show an interesting angle on the dislike of any sort of Christian beliefs or standings. Even if Everette (or whoever,) wasn’t directly quoting scripture but was rather building a case off of Biblical morals or something.

@ellette-giselle yikes! that’s messed up. Although I’m glad the rest of your team realized it was wrong.

actually saw a thing about that, where a girl and her parents actually sued the school she went to for graduating her with a high score when she can barely read or write. I don’t think it was a med school, but either way.

People have apparently decided that “everyone deserves a chance” means “everyone has to be told they’re good at everything, and if they’re not just ignore it and pretend they are.” It’s the worst.
