Yep. I used to learn a lot from Abbie Emmons. She was helpful when I was first learning stuff, but she only reaches a certain point. After that, Localsciptman and Brandon Sanderson have been great.
It’s funny doing so much research just to give our characters labels. Do I really need all this information? Do I need to know Marcel falls between a 9 and an 8? Not really, but it makes emotions so much easier to organize.
When I first watched the type 7 video and it started with the “why are you running?” meme, I immediately thought, “oh hey, it’s Dante” XD
*Giggle-snorts* I see it, too. Dante is so avoidant all the time.
Don’t know what this is but sounds interesting. You keep throwing unfamiliar terms out there and sending me down research rabbit holes.
I dig rabbit holes a lot when it comes to psychology. It has been such an interesting topic because I can easily picture things. For example, since I’m pretty dissociative, it’s easy to picture the mental fog of DID.
Kind of unrelated, but I’ve been reading Stormlight Archive and I appreciate the mental conditions in some of the main characters. I felt seen. Which is really weird to say… Normally I hear about ‘represented demographics’ in media but it never applies to me.

Not exactly sure what you mean by that……..
Psychology is the study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context. (I just pulled that off Oxford Languages. XD)
I like to add psychological stuff to my character charts. It can tell me why the character wants what he wants.
For example, imagine a boy who needs love. His parents don’t give him any love.
He might develop a belief in his mind. “I’m not good enough. I need to prove I deserve love.”
He will try to be the best at everything. He starts believing that he has to achieve big things before people will love him.
Soon he will think it is the only way to find happiness. This is a coping mechanism. It gives a character a false goal… because the character never knew the path to meet their needs in the first place.
In other words, it’s a lie. They believe “this is the way to be happy” but it isn’t.
Sooo, yeah. 🙃
(Sorry, I don’t really do technical names. I just do whatever I’m going to do. lol. If that makes sense.)

I know what Psychology is, I just wasn’t sure what you were meaning. lol.
I have that sort of thing, but not in it’s very own category. It normally ends up in notes, or in a sub-part of personality. (example: he is this way because…..)
So yeah, I just never had an explicit place for it.
