Yes you are you little…. little…… I don’t know what you are.
Dangerous person.
Lol. I’m having a great day. Having a lot of fun plotting my next book and building character boards and aesthetics.
Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God
November 23, 2024 at 1:47 pm #190413I’m the dangerous one? You’re the one with like, a 50% character mortality rate. 🤪 I feel sorry for your characters.
Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. ~ C.S. Lewis
November 23, 2024 at 1:53 pm #190414Good 😂 Sounds like a lot of fun. I don’t do as many aesthetics as plotting boards, I think pretty much everyone on here makes aesthetics and it seems to be a huge motivator.
I’m cleaning because my aunt and her boyfriend are coming over, and my room is the guest space. Last week my truck driver grandpa slept in my pastel themed room with the fairy lights on, it was super funny. XD
How do you typically plot? Do you have a structure, or…? (This is my biggest point of curiosity)

November 23, 2024 at 3:33 pm #190429I do bullet points and make sure I know the key points, the beginning, climax, and end. Then I graph out my characters. Other then that, I don’t do too much planning as long as I have a solid plot idea in my head.

November 23, 2024 at 3:52 pm #190435Yeah, I do something similar, only on physical cards because it’s easier to visualize. How detailed does that usually get? What do you mean by graphing characters?

November 23, 2024 at 5:05 pm #190440Hey peoples…
I’m back!
It’s been a long hiatus, and I don’t know how active I’ll be on here going forward, but at least I’m not basically nonexistent anymore.
For those who have joined KP since June, welcome, and I hope to officially meet you soon! And for those of you who were around before, it’s good to “see” you again.

November 23, 2024 at 7:32 pm #190448Not even my dad who’s a music major knew what that was lol, so we had to google it. That sounds like an interesting character

November 24, 2024 at 7:24 am #190450Hello! Hope you’ve been doing well <3
I’ve wanted this instrument for years. I’ll send you a picture of mine when I get it.

November 24, 2024 at 7:37 am #190452Hey, sorry it took a minute.
How detailed does that usually get?
Oh it depends. Sometimes I only have 4 or so points, and sometimes it’s close to 16. It just all depends on what points I know I need/want to hit.
What do you mean by graphing characters?
I have a sheet with the character’s name at the top. Then I add age, appearance, personality, family, weakness, strength, occupation, and any other key points I need to remember about said character.

Lol glad I’m still alive, too!
Yeah I’m doing pretty well! I hope you are, too!

I don’t even feel like an old KPer but I guess I am now lol. It’s been over a year since I’ve been on here, and that’s crazy to think about!

November 24, 2024 at 3:21 pm #190466I’m good! Honestly I had no idea it’s been this long, I guess time passes faster the older you get. 🙂
Hey, sorry it took a minute.
You’re good

Right, you just outline anything you thought of up to that point.
Honestly it’s a bit of a struggle to think up events that aren’t just ‘gets attacked’ and ‘fights this guy to survive.’ XD For me, I’ve always critiqued my own originality. So I just try my best to make plot points unique to the character.

Oh okay, I wasn’t sure what ‘graphing’ meant.
Do you wait to figure out the psychology of the character during the writing, or do you graph that too?
I use what I call my “cope chart,” which is kind of based on the Enneagram, but I adjusted it to my own interests. It’s pretty niche I guess, but I might post it in case it helps someone else.

November 24, 2024 at 4:20 pm #190468@whalekeeper You might like this character sheet. It’s from a scriptwriting YouTube channel that I really like.
I’ve been having a hard time with Ellie’s character so I’m trying it out🎵It takes a long time to wait 🌻
November 24, 2024 at 4:26 pm #190469@whalekeeper Here’s the video where he explains how to use it.
I don’t agree with everything he talks about, but he understands story structure really well and is able to explain things really clearly and simply (to me at least)
Also he’s not Christian, I don’t remember if he cusses or not, insert other disclaimers here etc.
