      XD

      Wait, you stole cookies? 😝

      Yes… *mischievous twinkle*

But my mum almost never minds, because I almost never eat sugar offered to me. I sometimes near faint because of low blood sugar, and I’m known in my class for never telling someone I’m hungry or thirsty until it’s too late XD

I’m doing alright, everything was kinda better this Christmas for some reason, idk why. Family time went alright, and we all went shopping together.

That’s great! Bet you felt a little relieved. It’s nice when something goes better than you expected it to.

My dad made a mud pie, which I’m technically too young to eat because it has liqueur in it 😂 but it’s just there for flavor, it’s not a lot.

That sounds so good rn, I am literally salivating XD

I’ve been drawing a bit… not nearly as much as I should be though.

Take breaks, take breaks. It’s fine.

I’m reading the Lunar chronicles rn, are you familiar with them? Book 1 and 3 are good so far, book 2 was kinda gross lol.

I’ve only heard of them. What are they about?

Over the holiday, I read a book called The Gatherer. It was a beta reader copy or something, because it isn’t technically published yet. It was my first fantasy romance 😛 The first half was amazing, but the romance got too cringy for me and I couldn’t take the rest of the plot seriously XD

I don’t have any particularly funny stories that happened, unfortunately. Do you?

My sister @lydibug got a hedgehog for Christmas! Starla’s cage is right across from me as I type. She’s a super grumpy old thing, but also super cute. Apparently she’s an escape artist. Before the Christmas reveal, my mum had to search the house for her because she crawled out of the cage.

Sooo… I was working on some “character-building” the past day or so, and I’ve fixed my MCs’ character arcs/internal conflicts to tie into the theme more and so I can write them better/more accurately. (With a little help from the Enneagram too 😉 )

I’d like to know what y’all think. 😊 I’m gonna try to explain everything as clearly as it is in my head. XD

        Amidala

Fear: her “perfect” or unchanged world changing/not being good enough

I know those two things might sound pretty different, but here’s how everything ties together…

She can be resistant and fearful of any change, mostly big changes. She doesn’t exactly realize it to begin with, but she really desires to live in a perfect world where things don’t change. (Which is actually kind of the villain’s desire too… 😱) When I first was thinking about it, she doesn’t seem like one to want to have control over a situation. That’s actually what she thinks too. But in fact, she does. She wants everything to go perfectly, the way she imagines it, and gets worried or ticked off if things don’t. (Typically the former).

Her misbelief really is that change is bad and that any bad or uncomfortable changes in her life indicate that God isn’t in control anymore or that He doesn’t care. So she knows she’s supposed to trust God and let Him work, but so often her perfection/tidiness issues get in the way and she wants to be in control of the situation. A lot of this doesn’t manifest itself too obviously, unless you’re looking for it. She just things she’s a very worrisome person, and doesn’t notice her real problem until later on. Sometimes this desire for things to go perfectly, causes her to think that she also has to be perfect and do everything right, even when that’s not possible. So there are times that she beats herself up for that.

She’s really a sweet young woman and loves to help people, but if people refuse her help or she’s not able to help, it brings back that urge to have control over the situation.

Over the course of the trilogy she learns to trust God with the big and little things and not worry so much over the changes that happen in life.

        Everton

        Fear: no freedom/being controlled

Oh boy, his is… interesting. (He’s a type 8 on the enneagram). One of his biggest flaws is pride. He’s not someone who acts high and mighty all the time, but his cockiness is pretty evident. Like any prideful person, he doesn’t catch this flaw and fix it. And even if someone, for some reason, tells him, he pretty much ignores it. He desires freedom and to have control over others/his situations, but he also has a desire to be truly loved. Yet often his desire to be in control turns people off or puts tension in his relationships. His pride also makes him pretty ticked off when people talk down to him and put him down.

His misbelief is that he is better than people think and that he deserves more than people give him. So throughout the trilogy he’s on this search for freedom, control, purpose, and love, but never finding it all at once. His father is somewhat of a control freak, more like he wants everything to go his way, but Ev wants freedom, which he wasn’t getting at home. So it only fed his pride as his father would talk down to him, and Ev would silently rebel, even if it wasn’t displayed outwardly. This also feeds his desire for freedom, causing him to do things that he wouldn’t otherwise do if he was content with where he was at in life.

So throughout the course of the trilogy, he gets a good does of humility and starts to learn how to let go and not always grapple for control over everything. But… his pride comes back stronger in the last book and sets him on a dark path for vengeance. (Don’t be worried, he has a positive arc, I promise. XD)

All this has fascinated me and it’s going to help TREMENDOUSLY with my problem of incorporating the theme more. Now it finally ties into both the MCs’ arcs, I just had to do a little digging in their personalities. 😉 It’s also pretty crazy, but Ev and Ami are so much alike, yet so different. They both have a desire for control, whether they notice it or not, and that manifests itself differently depending on their personalities and situations. I just thought that was so cool. Their root problem is also different.

So yeah. That’s it! Just wanted to share. I’d love to hear what you think! 🙂

That is so interesting! I love the arcs, they sound really realistic. It’s kind of cool that Ami’s, Ev’s, and the villain’s main desire is for control.

                Oh noo! Hydration is important!!!

They are basically sci-fi retellings of fairy tales all jammed into one world. So like rupunzel, cinderella, snow white, and little red riding hood, but the stories have been adapted to fit a sci fi world. I do not recommend the second one but the 1st and 3rd have been really good so far! The main plot is that earth (way in our future) settles a colony on the moon, which went rouge, and now the lunar queen is trying to take control of the earth too. It’s about the four girls and their love interestes (Which vaugely represent the ones from the fairy tales) finding eachother and learning to work together in order to re-instate the rightful heir to the lunar throne.

Ooof yeah… well the lunar chronciles also have some cringy romance. I mean a lot of it. I personally have to see a lot of individual growth and friendship between two characters to really get into their romance, if you know what I mean.

Lol that hedgehog story is funny XD

I liked those! My favorite part was probably the worldbuilding and seeing how the fairy tales tied in to the series. You’re right though, there was a lot of romance. 😑

yes it’s very important! If you don’t agree though, just remember it when you’re a little old lady 😂 elderly people can forget to drink and get really dehydrated.

If you don’t like cringe romance, you won’t like it. The first book is pretty solid and I really liked it, however the plot is only complete with the whole series.

Ummm… well it’s a little red riding hood remake, and basically they added in the ‘wolf’ character in a kinda odd way… the Lunar queen has this mutated wolf human army, basically they look mostly human, are mostly human, but she can control there wolfish instants and make them fight for her… and anyways one of them is hard to tell whether he is good or bad, and at the same time is romantically involved with the extremely niave mc?? Like what? He’s scary, and I think it’s pretty bad to have a combination of fear and romance in a book… like come on that’s super unhealthy. And they’ve only known eachother like 2 days.

I’m part way through book three and am kinda conflicted about whether to continue… I’m invested in Cinders romance arc because it is the most sweet/normal out of all of them… but tbh the romances are written from like a cleaned up worldly view. There isn’t any really really bad scenes, but the vibe of it definitely isn’t something a christain wrote. The non-romance plotlines are extremely compelling, but at this point I wouldn’t recommend it. I know other christian that like it, but idk… the romance is too far… im not sure.

I like romances that emphasize the friendships more, and show attraction based on complementing character traits, less of the physical stuff. Ok, let me rant for a minute 😂 I can never find a clean and well written book. LIKE WHYYYY

But is it? 🤨 I can still be skeptical

Okay, I have a problem of not drinking enough too, and I also get low blood sugar dips.

I was diagnosed with both Lhymes and Legionella this year, and my tick disease doctor told me every visit to “drink more water.” When I had blood drawn, he told me to “drink a lot of water.” He even has water bottles for people in his greeting room.

My grandmother was a former nurse and herbalist. She always made sure we had water glasses for each of us on the counter, to remind us to drink more water. She would tell us that we needed to drink at the very least five cups a day.

Whenever we go somewhere, we are mandated to have at least one water bottle.

                            Why?

The body is around 70% water, I believe. I could be wrong, but I know it’s between 70 and 80%. If you loose 70% of your body, what do you think is going to happen? Furthermore, the human body, even if it is a strong and healthy person, can only survive 3-4 days without water, when the body can go 3-4 weeks without food.

Now, if this hasn’t told you it’s important, what about how God uses it as imagery? The River of Life, the Living Water. Baptism: an outward sign symbolising that you are a Christian, and have been made alive through Christ.

Even in the Bible, water is a symbol of life.

Water is an earthly material that means life as much as a ruby means beauty. Since the Fall (idk if in Eden, Adam and Eve had to drink water) water is a imperative substance that the body must have.

                            Okay, okay, I’m done.

Yeah, go ahead and ignore me, as I said, I kinda don’t belong here.

Riiiiight I get that 😂 I can’t actually think of any good romance-ish books to recommend. And I’m glad you aren’t so unsure of what makes a relationship good or not – also glad I do. I know a Christian girl who loves the romance genre, and honestly I’ve wanted to ask her what she thinks is a healthy relationship, because from reading some of the books she recommends me… it’s not good 🤷‍♀️ She’s also okay with a crazy amount of swearing and implied stuff. And she’s younger than me. She’s really sweet and worth caring for – but it just goes to show what can happen if you don’t moderate yourself.

                              @trailblazer

It’s mostly fantasy for me too! Any contemporary or romance just doesn’t really cut it for me, not that it can’t be good. But there’s a lot to explore within the genre of fantasy that doesn’t really feel fantasy, you know? Like steampunk or something.

                              @rae

🤣🤣😂 Thank you for the motivation. My mum was just yesterday suggesting I should get a huge bottle like hers and work together on it. It’s just something I know I should do, but I’ve survived so far and I’m super stubborn, not wanting to do what I’m told 😅 After that, regular eating is my worst problem. I will genuinely forget to eat breakfast and lunch, get to dinner, and just not be hungry. It probably  has something to do with stress. I never have the motivation for stuff anymore. Depression?…. Eh I’m slow to self-diagnose but maybe I should actually start thinking about the mental implications 😓

Yeah, I prefer historical or contemporary fiction, but it’s so hard to find books in those genres that aren’t filled with romance. Historical fiction is a little easier than contemporary, just because there are historical events to focus on, and I feel like contemporary struggles to find other things to focus on.

My taste of worldly romance is that “if the guy is handsome, go out for an expensive date, if you still like him it’s love.” My personal expierance with a crush is, “he’s so much better than me, he’s such an angel. He follows God better than me. My heart starts racing when I see him. When he says my name, it skips a beat and I almost forget to breathe.” And his looks become an after thought. I think the only good love stories I know are off to the side and are not the main pieces of the books, but Leith and Renna from Blades of Acktar is pretty good. Arwen willing to give up immortality and never seeing her own father until the end of the world for Ellessar was love, I believe.

Idk, I don’t read romance because most of that genre seems to be nothing good.

I’ve thought about writing a romance, since my calling card is the things that most people don’t do. I don’t think I’m qualified. Man, I’m not even really qualified to write sci-fi! I’ve only read four sci-fi books in my life!
