From what I’ve seen, great Gerwig is good at following source material. Her 2019 adaptation of little women although strays a little bit in some places (Jo’s reaction to Laurie’s marraige to Amy) it stays truer than the 1994 version most of us have seen in some places. Her portrayal of Laurie and Amy’s romance was much more extensive and really did the couple justice.
I agree that because she isn’t christian, she might have a hard time with the adaptation, although sometimes that’s just the way it goes. I heard that (might be wrong though) one of the 2019 little women characters uses God’s name in vain, which is really going against the books if it actually happened.
My family kinda like “boycotts” certain media because of agenda’s, the reason we don’t have disney plus rn. I understand what Folith is saying about not wanting to ‘hate on’ a company, but I think a lot of this is general frustration at the lack of good media out there. I can’t have disney plus, apple tv doesn’t have the shows I want, (I thought they had a good one but come to find out there’s something really bad in it), it gets frustrating at some point and starts to become venting when we talk about it lol.
If yall want to support christian media, just a sayin’ the wingfeather saga tv show is totally crowd funded and free for anyone (even if you didn’t donate) it’s based on the books by Andrew peterson (the musician yes lol) and because he’s a part of the animation everything in the is canon. I could rant on for awhile about this lol… but the themes are really good. It might not have as high production quality as some other shows but I think it’s really good. Season 2 comes like this winter, their funding for it rn I believe.

For those of you who are like “They’ll destroy everything the book stands for!” may I remind you that the original Narnia films as well as the Lord of the Rings films and their sequel shows were probably made by non-Christians, too? (the original Narnia movies were made by DISNEY, of all companies!)
I’m not saying that nowadays, people aren’t so interested in putting in junky agendas that they probably will ruin a deliberately Christian tale, but….I’d be “cautiously optimistic” about it.
I can’t completely hate Netflix, Disney+, or any of those yet. There’s complete trash on there, yes, but there are a few stories still worth watching there, I’ve seen them.
Also, yeah, while places like ScreenRant are good places to look for fan theories and stuff, those are just that–theories, written by various authors who have their own biases. Just because a writer has this dumb idea in their head that Netflix should remove Narnia’s “religious aspect” doesn’t mean they will, because it is, to be honest, virtually impossible to.

I agree. I tend to be negative about these things from the start. I don’t trust any of the people with power to create anything of quality, which I know isn’t true, but I honestly can’t remember the last good movie I saw that came out in the last few years.

Yeah, there aren’t a lot of good new movies. Across the spiderverse was really good, but it did have some subtle messages in the background. (If you aren’t paying close attention, I don’t think people would notice) it wasn’t enough to deter me and I still really enjoyed the movie.

@whalekeeper pretty good! I’m doing a large decluttering of my room rn (well my closet but my room eventually lol) and it’s uhhh wrecked my room as of rn XD but yea…. I’m hoping it’ll help clear my mindset once I’m finished
