I don’t do this with all of my moodboards, but with some of them, I’ll pick a certain color I want for the character’s aesthetic. So you could pick a color, then look up, (for example), “pink aesthetic” “pastel blue aesthetic” “yellow aesthetic” That may give you some pictures to fill in the blanks. 🙂

May 24, 2023 at 3:13 pm #144874I don’t want to make a whole other forum for this, so I’ll ask it here. XD
Does anyone have any dystopian book recommendations?
I noticed that since I write dystopian, I should probably read in that genre. I already know about the Hunger Games but I don’t think my mom wants me reading those, so I’m looking for other suggestions. 🙂
I don’t know who to tag, so I’ll just hope someone sees this. XD

May 24, 2023 at 3:22 pm #144875Joelle Charbonneau!!!!!! Seriously girl, her books are amazing and sounds perfect for you 😁
She has the Testing trilogy, which is basically a Hunger Games knockoff but it’s still good! 😂😂 And then yeah, pretty much any of her books (I think Verify is also dystopian)
And hunger games if you haven’t read that!!
Edit: oops, just saw you can’t read the hunger games 😂😂 My bad! Still, you should check out the Testing, it’s not as violent in my opinion 🙂
Also, Matched is dystopian (Allie Condie), though it is pretty romantic? I’m not sure about the last book because I haven’t read it, but there was nothing umm . . . it was still clean, just definitely romantic 😅
And just wanted to throw this out — there’s also the Maze Runner, which doesn’t have anything bad on the romance side or really bad language, but it’s supeerrr violent. Just a warning
I might be able to come up with more later, but I hope these help!!

May 24, 2023 at 3:30 pm #144877So yeah, probably not Maze runner 😅 Sorry about that! I didn’t read your post all the way through 😰 and it won’t let me edit anymore . ..
Common sense media is a really great website for book reviews by the way!! My mom looks up everything on there before I read it, lol
Oh and there’s also the Giver, which is really popular but super short 😅 I personally thought it was ok, but in the name of research 😂
So yeah, you should definitely check out the Testing and Matched! I’ll let you know if I remember any others 🙂

@esther-c Sadly, no.😅
I haven’t read literally ANY dystopian except 1984, and…uh….idk if I’d recommend that. It has some…things in it, not necessarily violence, persay, but…other things, y’know?
So yeaaaahhhh, i’m not very helpful XD
Hope you get some good recommendations soon though!!!!
May 24, 2023 at 4:11 pm #144881Oh! I don’t read much dystopian but I have a bunch of friends that do so I have a few recommendations (I don’t think anyone’s said these yet…)
– The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
– Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix (I think there’s a sequel or maybe more, but I read these in 5th grade and they were pretty good, sad tho.)
– The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (I personally haven’t read these, and I know there are some questionable things in them so maybe look into them first 😉 but I know they’re very popular)
– The Ashtown Burials by N.D. Wilson (Okay, I LOVE these books, and would recommend these the most of this list, the only thing is they’re technically a fantasy story but I do think they fit into the dystopian category…)
Hope that helps!

May 24, 2023 at 5:06 pm #144917You’re welcome!!!
The city of ember is good!! And the lunar chronicles, yeah, theres some kissing and stuff like that lol and it’s sort of violent? But my sister just read them, and she’s about to be 13. Tho she kind of reads most of the stuff I do 😅
I would say theyre mostly science fiction tho, but I could see how you said they’re dystopian too 🙂
