@BlueJay This idea actually reminds me of a book called The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis. I haven’t actually read the whole book thought, so I can’t tell you how similar. And you’re probably putting a completely different plot in.
You can give the beast a name. It would make him more of a realistic character, I think. There are so many variations of the story that I’d just make up your own name, instead of trying to find one from somewhere else.
September 18, 2016 at 7:13 pm #17564I’m kinda glad that I haven’t read Inkheart, that way no one can accuse me of copying. 🙂
@christi-eaton, @gretald Yes, you will get to read it one day. (If it works out).
@anna-brie I have decided on a name for the Beast. 🙂 He is going to be Aden, which was @hope named her beast, so I’m tying in her book too. 🙂WHAT!!!???!!! No fairy tale suggestions????????? C’mon guys……please, please, please, pretty please, please and lots of chocolate??????? (@daeus, *whispers* chocolate)
??????????????????????????????????????????????September 18, 2016 at 7:16 pm #17565@bluejay Oh, it sounded like you had chosen beauty and the beast. Are there going to be others too? Unfortunately, I can’t be much help even though I do really like chocolate. I’m simply not much of a fairy tale person.

September 18, 2016 at 7:21 pm #17566@daeus Yes, there will be other fairy tales. My MC has to find the story teller so that he (the MC) can get out of the story world. So he doesn’t just stay in the Beauty and the Beast story.
*Hands you a piece of chocolate for trying.* *looks around for someone who likes fairy tales* *munches on chocolate.*- This reply was modified 8 years, 1 month ago by BlueJay.
September 19, 2016 at 3:25 am #17594September 19, 2016 at 7:48 am #17600@bluejay Well, I have written a Rapunzel retelling, and unpublished Sleeping Beauty retelling, and am currently working on a Hansel and Gretel retelling… As for other fairy tales, have you heard of Rooglewood? They have three books out now, each with five novellas in them focused around one story: Five Glass Slippers (Cinderella); Five Enchanted Roses (Beauty and the Beast); and Five Magic Spindles (Sleeping Beauty).
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
September 19, 2016 at 5:18 pm #17616Here are all the fairy tales I can think of:
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Snow White
Rapunzel
The Snow Queen (the original version of FROZEN before Disney)
Beauty and the Beast
Pinocchio
Hansel and Gretel
Thumbelina and Tom ThumbI know there are more, but not the basic ones. Wikipedia has a List of Fairy Tales page.

@bluejay sounds like an interesting concept 🙂 And I can’t think of any fairy tales that haven’t been mentioned. Oh wait, except the Princess and the Frog.

The Simpleton
Jack and the Beanstalk
Little Red Riding Hood
St. George and the Dragon (or is that a true story?)
Or are all of those too like childrens’ nursery tales?
September 28, 2016 at 7:12 pm #18327@emma-flournoy Thank you for more suggestions. It is hard to tell the difference between a nursery tale and a fairy tale, but I’ll see how I go.
