That’s a good thought. If you fall in love with your characters it might make you a little more eager to create their story. Thanks @daeus!

Yep, @Daeus got pretty much everything I was going to say. 😉 So… yeah. What he said. 😛

I’m struggling with my own story a little bit right now. Partly because I just don’t feel like my writing skills are quite up to it.

@anna-brie, I feel like that too sometimes. I think you should just go for it! Do the best you can and see what the end result is. Also, I don’t know if you have this problem but I do: Don’t edit your story too much when your just writing the first draft. Sometimes I have to catch myself from doing that. It’s as if I’m trying to improve something that’s not even able to be improved yet! 😛 (Yes, I realize that has nothing to do with your comment, but I felt I should say it.) Don’t beat yourself up over your writing skills. I have only been writing (like serious writing) for a year. I’m sure your writing skills aren’t any worse than mine. 😉

Yes @anna-brie and @hannah-c and @faithdk, don’t be too hard on yourselves starting out. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge your mistakes, but don’t be afraid to keep writing either. The only way to write better is to keep writing, no matter how terrible your first attempts are.

Seriously guys, my first attempts… heh-heh… to call them junk would be exceedingly generous. 😛 I’ve been seriously writing for what, three years now? Almost? And I have noticed a marked, marked improvement in just about every area. Including staying interested. 😉 It took me eight novels to get here (only two of them definitely publishable) but I here I am, and it wasn’t really that difficult. Just time consuming. 😉

So stick with it, girls. It’ll come. I promise.

Yes, thanks. I’m really hoping it’ll improve. My first novel is a rambling mess with the whole beginning needing to be rewritten. I can see where I’m going with that though.
But my second one. I feel almost as if I’m right two different stories, one of which feels like it’s trying to hard to become a Christian book and the other has no mention of anything of that sort. I’ve lost my balance and I don’t know where I want it to be. And I don’t know if it’s better with more or less POV’s.

Thanks @kate-flournoy! I’ve been writing seriously since August of 2013 and you’re right about improving as you go. I’ve seen improvement in my work and I’ve learned a ton of things since then. So I’m getting there but I guess I’m just an impatient perfectionist. 😀

                    Write on, everyone!
